    Call me an idiot

Well, call me an idiot but...Seeing as how nothing beats a whirlwind barbarian
I've decided to make one. Using the availible PvP barbarian guide (Dyns) I have a question for that guide. It's about the dexterity. I plan to be killing melee characters along with casters. How in the world am I supposed to know about whether or not I should be using a shield? It makes no mention of fighting PvP with a shield, it praises double wielding beserker axes as far as I can tell.

What about this dex? Do I really have to put points into it in order to own vs. melee characters? So in essence, am I going to have to end up with an axe/shield wearing barb, sacrificed vitality for the dexterity or what? Because in the guide it makes no mention of using the sword or axe I should say to kill along with the use of a shield, it only gives strategies for how to kill a caster.

    Thank you as always :fortuneteller:

You will only need a shield vs. other barbarians. It can be useful in TvT if the other team has characters like Bowazon and Barbarian.

You can only use Axes due to Beast. It can only be made in axes. If you really want to kill other Barbarians in WW vs. WW, you will want maximum blocking and quite different skills (20 ww, 13 leap, 20 axe mastery, 20 bo, 5 nat res, 6 inc speed rest shout). However, if you do not care about beating BvBs, you can go with a BvC build. Lots of topics about BvCs are around.

This is too true. Meaning it's true.

It takes skill, wealth, knowledge and good prediction skills. Knowledge as in being able to know the weaknesses of your opponent and the styles they can play with. Wealth as in being able to afford the necessary gear. Skill as in being able to use the barbarian correctly and being able to use the necessary skills in their best ways (Leap, WW, teleport, unsummon). Prediction skills are mainly only needed vs. desynching opponents, such as Hammerdins.

You can also use a shield to own zealots and WW druids

    Yes.

You do not NEED shield to beat a Zealot or a WW druid.

You do NEED a shield to beat a BvB WW vs WW.

You can USE a shield to beat a Zealot or a WW druid.

You NEED to USE a shield to beat a BvB WW vs. WW.

    See?

Ok that all makes good sense...so for a zealot with 40-50k defense youd be better of using a shield?

It will be BETTER, but not NECESSARY. Unless you're stubborn about beating BvBs in WW vs. WW, you should go with BvCs instead of BvA.

BvA (means a BvC with maxblock with stormshield) will die to good BvB anyway so theyre garbage

Of course. What kind of a Sherlock Holmes does that take?

However, I remember Blobs posting something about a good BvA always being superior to a good BvB.

Isn't a bvb going to be just as good against casters as a bvc?

    Hell no.

A BvB is designed to kill Barbarians.

If you want to kill casters with a BvB, you will fail miserably due to the total lack of Leap and the lack of points to Increased Speed and Natural Resistances.

BvBs have 20 points to shout, ww, axe mastery, bo, and rest go iron skin.

BvCs have 20 points bo, ww, axe mastery, leap, 5-6 nat res ~6 increase speed, rest go shout

You see a great difference huh? BvBs go all-defense, BvCs go Leap.

BvBs will have great trouble killing any Casters due to lacking the ability to stun (Leap) and the lack of resistances and proper skill-FRW to do good triwhirls.

Ce Olba, you're my hero. Next question. If I make a bvc am I really not supposed to put ANY points at all into dexterity? Won't my attack rating suffer pitifully?

You can and most likely WILL put points into Dexterity. I advice doing it like this:
117 - raven - torch - anni. With all 20 it ends up as 57.

And well, Dexterity is a pitiful source of ar (IIRC 5 ar/point in dex) compared to, for example, charms.

So why does the guide tell me not to put points into dex?

    Which one?

If you're using Blobs' one, it uses barely any gear changes, thus assuming that you're godly with all your skills (telezerk, triwhirl, leap, teleww, etc.), whereas the flexibility setup helps you get better and it makes opponents easier and quicker to deal with.
