Buying items from websites (noob Question)

OK, I hope this question is not in any violation of the rules here. I am a multiplayer noob and throughout play I constantly see 'ads' to buy items from different websites. What is the deal with these items? Are buying items from vendors 'frowned upon' or is it a legit way of finding items for your characters?

If I may ask - are there more reputable companies that someone can PM me about? Or are all of these storefronts selling 'duped' or hacked items that will get me banned?

Like I said, I hope this question is not going to anger any mods on here (if so, delete this post but please PM me about this).

Re: Buying items from websites (noob Question)

Buying items from any website is a really bad idea, for several reasons, some of which:

It's illegal and against Blizzard's EULA and the TOS. The websites doing this are just in it to make a buck and the items they sell are usually what we call "Dupes" these are illegal copies of items and runes made by various methods - which we don't mention here. Also the items on sites like that may have been farmed (gathered) by a bot that someone left running. These are also illegal, not only with Blizzard but also here on our forums.

Also several of these sites are of a even more shady nature than selling duplicated items, they are also into various hacks and you risk getting your computer infected with a key logger or trojan type virus.

None of the sites or companies that sell DII items are reputable in any way - they just want your money. Indeed they are selling stuff that can get you banned.

Avoid those sites like the plague.

I think I will try to enter a random game and advertise for this site. It will probably take several seconds longer than the 2 seconds of the others. But still, I could make buck out of that too!!

I'm sorry but why would you make a poster for a level 18 paladin? Is that a joke Mursilis? :) I thought people did that stuff to make a statement of achievement of some sort?

He's level 18 now, but that will change with time. It's how I keep track of my current character. It was a level 84 Paladin a few days ago.
