Re: Bugging mephisto?

My post in another thread:

You join a game where the creator has already completed the kill meph quest (and therefore the quest log shouldn't indicate that you can't complete the quest in that game). Then you kill meph. You will get his quest drop, which gives better items and is normally only recieved when killing him for the first time. You won't have completed the quest, so you can do the same thing again the next game. Although as soon as you've completed the quest, it won't work anymore.
There's also a bug with andy that's much easier to activate. After you've killed andy for the first time in that difficulty (completing the quest), go straight to warriv and talk to him in the same game. Between the moment you kill andy for the first time and when you talk to warriv, you're not allowed to exit the game or talk to anyone else than warriv.

After you've done this, andy will drop quest drops forever, no matter what you do afterwards. It's a one-time activation glitch, that after activated, will last forever.

You can talk to anyone else inbetween. Just be sure to talk to Warriv AFTER you kill Andariel and BEFORE you exit the game. That is all that is required.

Yep. You can usually just use the search feature on the forum if you see a lot of people talking about one subject, and find the answer fairly easily.

I personally don't like some forum search features because they only allow 1 search per xx amount of time.

This place has no limit, so it's really nice.

There is no bug for Mephisto. You have to join a game where that quest has already been done. Make sure it says "This quest cannot be completed in this game".

It isn't a bug, just the way the game works.

But what isn't nice is that so many 3-letter words that you've love to look for, you can't because it will omit them.

Re: Bugging mephisto?

Does any one know how much better the drops are when you compare bugged to non bugged meph? For instance what greater percentage of dropping uniques would bugged meph have over non bugged meph? I'm just looking for a rough estimate, i'm curious.

Also I plan to join baal run games to kill him, does the number of players increase the odds of getting a better drop? I'm too lazy to use atma so a list of what happens with various # of players would be great. I have 12k blizzard and am working on lvl 32 CM, so i figure my killing speed is fine for any # of players. And i'm on ladder, so killing him a bit slower to avoid temps bans isn't so bad.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, increasing the amount of players in game will decrease the chance to get a no-drop. So, in a way, it does increase(the ammount of) drops. It does not have anything to do with the quality of drops.

I think (not completely sure) that non-bugged meph has a 1/3 chance for no-drop while quest meph always drops real drops

Re: Bugging mephisto?

I'm pretty sure that even the quest drop from any act boss can turn out to be a no-drop. But you won't get any "crap" items from quest drop(ie scrolls, potions, money).

EDIT: In fact, now that you mentioned, I vaguely remember reading that no-drop chance actually increases with quest drop(as opposed to normal drop). This is because the boss can't drop crap items, so the chance for everything else increases. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
