Bramble Novamancer

Hey guys, I'm new here to the D2 forums but I would like to hear your input on my Bramble Nec.

The only chars I have to use nigma on, (I suck with tele) are assassins and bowzons. Sorcs i have trouble with at times without the nigma, but I can easily beat all barbs, pallys, and combat chars in general with my poison nec without a nigma.

Here's my setup

Max poison skills (dagger, psn explosion, nova)
Max golem mastery, Fire golem (1 pt in pre requisites)
only one skill into LR (diminishing returns afterwards)
6 pts or so into Fire golem (my nec is lvl 93 right now)

You want a godly strong fire golem to take off the last 1hp, I tried to make
my fire golem with as much hp as possible.

1 pt into bone armor, wall, prison
(still deciding whether or not I want minions, im just too lazy to summon them every time for pvp)

This give you about an extra 700 or so defense with the bone armor bc the bone wall/prison adds +15 additional defense per pt

Gear:

Helm: 15% dr Crown of ages, 23 resist all, 2 5/5 die psn facets
(This helm is was an easy pick over shako bc of the 30% fhr as well as resists). The coa also gives +1 to skills, so thats why i chose it as well.

Weapon: 49% death's web with a 5/5 die psn facet (easy choice again)

Shield: 5/5 psn die facet Stormshield Monarch. I have max block on this poison necro because I use a 50% bramble. Works amazing for pvp and melee chars, so much better than vita necs!

Armor: 50% psn dmg dusk shroud bramble. 50% fhr is awesome also for those melee chars trying to charge you. I'm looking to upgrade to an archon plate for the added defense soon, as well as my thorns aura is only level 16, which a perfect one would be lvl 21. Not like that would make much of a difference for PVP but i like to be perfect :)

I know most people side with enigma for dueling, and it is much better against casters. However if a caster gets hit by one of my nova's they instantly drop to 1 hp and the fire golem's fire aura usually deals the final blow even with them teleporting around. Usually they just tele to town like cowards.

however against most pub duels which include 4-5 pallys at a time typically the bramble rapes them all. I like to be original too with the bramble choice, and it's a good change of pace for the majority of the melee pvper's who are used to annoying teleport tactics.

Gloves: Trang's gloves; 25% psn dmg is an easy choice

boots: rare demonhide boots with 10% faster hit recovery, 30% faster run walk and 35% resist to cold, lightning and fire.
I realize eth treks offer more defense but I like the resists on these boots for pvm, and occasionally for pvp too

Rings: soj/bul kathos for a mix of +mana and health

Ammy: perfect mara's, natural choice

belt: arachnid mesh

charms: pnb lifers (I have 3 40's and the rest range from 13-20) with torch, anni, and small lifers with resist (1 20 life 5 res all, rest 11 resist light and 20 life for the ultra annoying trap sins and foh pally's)

My nova damage with all this gear ends up to be 15.3k, with -5%,-10%, -5% dmg resist coming from the psn facets, and -54% psn resist from the deaths web. Thats a whopping -74% psn resist from the items (WITH max block as well). Not including lower resist which lowers the psn resist by -61%.

Thus you are looking at a max block psn necro who does 15.3k poison dmg with -135 psn resist, and who has 50% dmg reduction from the ss and the coa.

Any thoughts on this build? I like to call this psn necro the "Nova tanker", I haven't seen a similar build yet on US west and I have a lot of fun with him, as he rapes in pvm and pvp.

What kind of Life you can achieve with going a non -REQ jooled SS//CoA? I'd get a good -req jool on the SS, that way you'd get more life (less points in STR) with out sacrificing hardly any damage.

thats a fair call uppis, right now i have to have like 174 str for the crown of ages because im using the bramble armor so no +str..but with my +6 bo cta +spirit on off hand I have about 1890 life. Plus necro's only get like 4 life per every vita pt used, its a good idea but I like to have max psn damage :)

I dont know how much more life i would get if i had less req. on the SS but what important is the max block, when you have pallys charging you the + life might not be too much of a benefit

It's very fun to duel with though

The thing I don't really like about the build is the low fcr and mobility.Other then that it looks pretty good.

My favorite pvp character and pker was the poison nova necromancer.
My second favorite was poison java zon.
Both just destroy people quickly.

In anycase, I liked Enigma on the Nova more (And bramble on the Zon) more.
It's better to teleport near / ontop of the enemy in pvp so the fire golem will be sure to hit and take down that last HP point.
Otherwise they can just run around and survive while the golem is out of range.
I typically left him level 1 and boosted bone armor for defence or teeth / bone spirit to also try and knock off that last HP.

Here's to hoping poison can kill in Diablo3

If you enjoy that necro you should try out a poison Zon next.
They never really got popular for some reason but were very overpowered.
When the javalin travels through them and you have high pierce (Or which ever causes the javalin to go through)
They get hit by the javalin 20+ times and the poison stacks on them very quickly.

Re: Bramble Novamancer

That's a good point, I just really suck with teleport while dueling still. It's fun having the 15.4k nova dmg with bramble though :). How did you guys get good with tele dueling? practice? I got a bramble and my nova does 12k which is still fairly high but I bow with the tele.

And Poison better be an option for Diablo 3!! Long live poison

by the way, FriskyDingo, what gear did your poison javazon have? Curious here

Well you dont need dr in pvm but if this is pvp then maybe 15% dr coa and ss is a viable choice for PN. Another suggestion I would consider is putting rest the points into blood golem for maximum fire golem life. I mean fire golem would take up too much mana.

But you will need fcr for this build so how are you planning on hitting at least 75% fcr with 50% dr?

Re: Bramble Novamancer

I have 40% fcr right now, and this novamancer is mostly for dueling against melee. I don't really need fcr honestly because all it takes is 1 nova to get them to 0 health, with all the -res and psn dmg.

As for the blood golem points, I tried doing that to give the golem more life, but it only gives the golem 50 health for each point. The system is bugged somehow, because my golem has like 8k health, so 5% of 8k should be 300 or so health of whatever the math is, but the fire golem has less health in norm levels too, so maybe it takes the + health from that ratio? I'ts messed up, I realize that I would want more health on the fire golem but with only 50 health a point its useless to put points into blood golem.

After thinking for a while I'm considering (for the new ladder) putting a point into revives, for a meat shield against zons and windy druids, sorcs, the classes I struggle with the most.

Any thoughts on revives in dueling? Could be a lot of fun with this kind of necro build :)

Re: Bramble Novamancer

every summon has less life in normal. The life bonus is not a percentage of the max life your golem has at lv20. I forgot how the math works but if I recall the skill tree tends to lie about those stats. This goes for skeletons, wolves, spirits, shadow masters etc etc
