Bowazon help

I want to make a Bowazon that can mf the pit, cows, solo baal, and kill the major act bosses with ease, but i havent found i guild that i really liked. So what i was thinking was this skill layout
Strafe 20
Cold arrow 20
Freezing Arrow 20
Valk 20
Rest into Decoy and passives

So obviously the strength of this is that it can kill bosses quite easily, and not be affected by physical immunes. The problem is dealing damage to those crowded areas, like cows. I was thinking of adding multishot to the mix, but i dont really wanna be switching between major skills.

I want your guys opinions about this, and suggest gear for the amazon.

Re: Bowazon help

I had a lot of luck running many of the same areas with my old witchizon who was a bit of a strafe/lf hybrid. I'll have to go and dig up an old post, but in a nutshell she'd operate in strafe mode using an upped Witchwild String for pit runs (once amp procced she'd clear quite quickly) and javelin mode with plain old Titan's for cows (even with relatively minimal plus skills this can work well). I want to say her skill layout looked something like maxed strafe and lightning fury, possibly maxed penetrate, enough pierce for 100 percent with Razortail, comfortable d/e/a and an ok valk. She wasn't the fastest in large player count games, but was quite adept at hunting for socketables (plus I wanted a character that could do more than just cows, etc.).

Depending on gear you might be able to add charged strike at the expense of maybe some of the passives like d/e/a or penetrate if your bow has itd. Any idea what gear you're looking at?

Also be sure to check out the "show off your zon" thread, there are some pretty good examples to be found in there, look up crawlingdeadman's MissIsle in particular. Hope that helps.

The problem with hybrids (a physical/cold one in this case) is that your equipment is divided to make both effective. FA needs lots of +skills/+cold skill %damage/-enemy cold resistance while strafe needs none of those but instead needs damage/speed/AR. You will have to have good equipment to balance the two.

Without investing heavily in Penetrate, I think you will have problems hitting in Hell. It will depend on what gear you could come up with though.

Based on your statement, I assume you will be a strafer first and FA'er second. A quick rundown of bows at your disposal would be helpful.

When helping you out with a Hybrid, we need to know your budget first. All equipment choices depends on the budget. Can you afford ICE, Faith, CoH etc etc.

Almost any bow amas can do full game pits easy and with 250mf.
Freezing arrow ama can do full game cows just fine, slowly but easy.
Just need to block portal than 'others' dont kill king.
But no point running cows, when you can clear tc85 areas as easy.

Full game baal is quite easy, hardest part is to clear throne. And baal itself.
And dia area is nice open space, easy to kill with ama. And dia is much easier to kill than baal.
Andariel,Duriel and Mephisto are easy too, valkyrie tanks, and just shoot. But no point running these, go after big bosses and surrounded by tc85 areas.

In bnet you need to be fast, so tele is almost mandatory if you want to kill baal alone in full game. Those full game games dont last long, so clearing full game throne and getting to baal, you have about 2-3 min time.

With freezing arrow setup, you have about +10-15 skills, so 1-point multi does the job in pits. Max penetrate instead and give nice amount for critical too.
And against single target one point guided or magical is enough.

Multi and Freezing arrow has same speed breakpoints so those go well together. And you save lots of point by using multi, instead of strafe.

WF,Shako(ias+resist),Highlord amu,LoH,Enigma,2xraven(raven+light absorb ring),Arach,3 resist boots+dex+30run, wizpike+spirit at switch
Gives 250mf (charms gives over 100mf), max light and fire resist, 12frame tele, enough (=not the fastest, but can kill everywhere at decent speed) killing power to solo every place in full games.
And I choose little slower attack speed so I dont drop games so often, I use torch to boost FA.

But if you just solo, then go running route and do fast pits/chaos runs.
And baal too killing all along the way, those are tc85 areas too, so killing there can drop anything. But need resist there to kill (conviction) souls easily.
But for crazy bnet, tele is so nice, almost mandatory, IMO.

Re: Bowazon help

The char that I used to get some funds built up after the reset was a sorc - then I got rich off my strafer running pits, baal, and countess -

So - basically - strafers can do quite well - and zon's most expensive item was an eaglehorn bow...everything else was under 6 pgems in value.

I highly doubt this statement is correct. Don't get me wrong, Eagle is a very good bow. IMO, WF then and Faiths today should be way more expensive.

There was supposed to be a *my* zons....

A straffer can pay as much as they want for gear, especially with charms in the mix.
