    Bounty Hunting

I thought maybe this would be a good idea to tackle the problem of tppk's.

Its kinda similar to the blacklisting thread, only its not about avoidance, its about revenge ^^

see, if you know the account of a tppker, type it here, with a reward for their ear.

For example you post the acc name (eg. *ilikestufftoo), and a reward (eg. Hellslayer)

so if they enter your game, the tables can be turned, and they wont see it coming.

its all about thinning the herd and making them as nervous as we all are!!

    just an idea. . .

    its impossible to kill tppk-ers
the instant you hostile them they are in town

Then this also works to our advantage. as long as we turn the tables and make them the hunted, rather than the hunters, theyre numbers will start to fall.

if they cant tppk, because we've already hostiled them, all thats left is to pk, and i believe tppkers are the cowards of the pk world. they wont come and tackle you toe to toe, and if they do, you stand a chance of claiming a reward for their ear ^^

    Re: Bounty Hunting

In my time here, I've seen perhaps a dozen "TPPK Blacklist threads" I don't think any of them has gone anywhere in terms of public games.

For blacklisting people to Banana or Gauss it's great, but who is going to remember 40 people (fairly easy to attain number) and check everyone who joins their pub Baals and hostile TPPKers.

Also, best case scenario is you hostile them and they leave that specific game. They aren't going to stop TPPKing, because killing with hacks is a numbers game. You aren't out for the thrill of the one kill you're playing the house edge and a game here or there doesn't matter to you.

The other option is that they call you out for a duel in the game using their IB sorc with AutoAim, farcast and instant tele to town when cursor put over them.

It would be a great idea if it was practical, which is the decision that is reached every time this topic comes up. Unfortunately, it inconveniences us a great deal if we spend time in pubs, as we have to keep checking a list of TPPKers anddoesn't truly inconvenience them much.

Best of Luck if you want to try it, but I wouldn't be willing to take the time to harass TPPK script kiddies everywhere they go and I certainly wouldn't want to risk a high level char of mine earning a bounty of items. That's just me though.

    Re: Bounty Hunting

Meh, root for the ideal obviously. If enough people were willing to put in enough time maybe it could do something. I just know that most of us have a limited amount of game time and I personally wouldn't want to spend it all trying to keep track of TPPKers who could probably care less about what I was doing.

I don't want TPPK to waste my time, and chasing them around all day in a fruitless attempt to kill them does that just as well as them cheating and killing your character

    Re: Bounty Hunting

in response to the problem of memorizing them, u can just add them all that u know of to friends, then u know if they join ure game, and can track/hunt them. Id try it if my char was stronger, but its my first hc and only lvl 24. In regards 2 the cursor problem theres another simple solution, use a character that doesn't need to put cursor on them, just in front/ behind, eg. spam with a fb etc. Good luck.

    Re: Bounty Hunting

just got tppk'd by acc *nab_

was an ice bolt thingy sorc

    !! BOUNTY !!

    3 terror keys + 3 hate keys

be advised, sorc initially offers help. saying "no" doesnt deter pk

if they hold point systems hunting us, we'll hold something similar versus them!!

gonna give this a go some time, think ill make another char, not sure what type. Trapsin or smiter maybe, probably end up choosing a sorc. Probably blizzard, as my usual fb is only really good with sks, which i couldnt afford.

    Re: Bounty Hunting

Most TPPKers would love the attention you're giving them. Like most phonies and hacks, TPPKers want you to make threads about how much you dislike them and want to get them back; it gives their pointless cheating value and it fills this space inside them, pushing out the guilt and shame average people feel when they do wrong. There is nothing we can do to deter them or make them stop because they're ignorant and irrational. The best metaphor I can think of is to compare it to the same way you'd ask a dog to stop relieving itself on the ground--pointless.

I think this kind of wanted list, may not only be ineffective for the reasons mentioned already, but counterproductive as well, because they can tell their fellow third grade kids "you know how badass I am, there's even a price set on my ear on that l33t forums.diabloii.net!!! LOL". I'm quite shure, thats not what we want.

    Re: Bounty Hunting

I'm pretty sure it doesn't tell you what game they're in unless it's a mutual friendship. It would allow you to know if they joined your game I guess as you could check you f list to see if the account of the person who just joined was on it but you could in no way hunt them if I'm remembering correctly.

    Re: Bounty Hunting

well its obvious some people like the idea, some people dont. but the few people that do, well, at least we'll have a few peeps who are willing to give it a shot. and i'm sure some of the tppkers will get a little excited that they got a mention in a thread. though that excitement will no doubt be short lived when they lose their pker and their items

    Not bashing, just indicating:

    * folks TPPK in groups / have multiple cd keys (meaning levelling and gear aren't issues)
    * it's more fun to play with friends than randoms
    * no point playing online if you're gaming alone

I'm quite sure that Ilikestuff knows what he's getting into.

Let him have his fun and quit posting if you're just going to tell him his idea is stupid.

    Who's calling it stupid?

I'm pretty sure half the responders have likely started threads like this way back when - we're just repackaging our shared experiences as advice.

If you want to word it that way.

All you're doing is telling him why it won't work.

My cookies just got pk-ed by a big fat white polar bear. Catch him, and you'll get ketchup as a bounty.
