Boner questions.

1) I've heard these guys can MF, and I'll assume they can do it anywhere, as they have 3 types of damage in magic/phys/fire, but are there any special areas that are uber easyish, sort of like how cold sorks have ancient tunnels? Also, how do they fair soloing in 4+ player games, if they've got say Marrows and +8 skills?

2) The synergy part of the build seems fairly obvious;
20 BS
20 BS
1 CE
0 in BP
20 in BW
1 in BA
20 in Teeth (as it's the least useful synergy it's the last one I plan on pumping)
The one I'm not sure about is teeth, would those points be better spent in BA or a golem or ~5 revs?

That's 82 points, so I can reasonably assume I'll have about 15 more points (perhaps more to depending on if I want to not pump teeth in favor of more safety skills?) distribute, so here is where I'm really unsure, which curse am I going to be relying on more;
Dim Vision
Amp
Decrep
If the answer is decrep, I'm going to go 1 in everything route, if the answer is DV, should I still go 1 in everything, or should I go with just pumping DV? Keeping in mind my +curses could end up being only ~4 rather than ~8.

After that a few simple questions;
Bone armor: With the 53 points of synergy I'm planning, will anything that breaks it faster than I can recast it break it more or less regardless of any extra points I put in?

Block: Since I'm going to have 500+ or so in BA to stop physical attacks, and block only works on those same physical attacks, is block worth it? Will be using a Homunc or Trang's shield, both of which have reasonable block rates. I also *think* I'm planning on using a wizzy, so ~70 or so will be invested into dex unless I Hel it.

Wizzy: I don't have access to a white wand, I like casting fast, I like mana, and I like resists? Are skills, without a good white wand, more important than all of that?

Merc: HF seems like the logical choice here, unless I'm missing some key point?

Golem: Does this build need a golem to tank when soloing, if so which, and how many points?

Really depends on what you're MFing.

In any case, try to get a Naj staff, or some other staff with teleport on switch to cross those certain areas(such as the moat in Dur 3.)

I was thinking CS runs, as there is nothing in there that can potentially be an extra strong fanat cursed archer pack.
I do have a blue tele staff, and a blue ammy I can keep in my stash and toggle between the +3 PnB 29 energy ammy I plan on wearing if I decide I need my switch for something else.

1) i followed a bone nec through the chaos sanctuary once, i was impressed with the way he demolished everything, and did it safely too, thanks to his bonewall. so i think you are spoilt for choice with potential areas to mf in

2) curses hmm...
I can only speak from my summoner experience but i'm a big fan of both dim vision for those nasty ranged attackers, and decrep also for the big boss killing. I think using this same tactic would be equally effective on a bone nec as a summoner

decrep-1 point wonder
dim vison-pump until happy with the radius & duration

also have you considered using attract as a crowd control tool?
It may be if you use bone wall or dim vision heavily it wont be needed, but I find attract a life saver as a summoner

In regards to pumping bone armour...you only get 10 extra damage absorbed per point, not worth it in my opinion as your marrows and prison will make you super buff

As for max block, I also wouldn't bother
Even with a homun or trang shield you will still need an insane ammount of dex to maintain 75% and I'll think you'll find when a monster appears toe to toe with you, the first thing you will do is retreat...running most likely, lowering your block to 1/3
Let your bone armour take care of the occasional smack you recieve and pump vita. leave max block to the meleers & pvp necros

wizzy or white....it really depends on the other gear you have to use. If you're of limited funds, then i'd suggest going for a wizardspike at the moment. With wiz, you wont have too much trouble covering your resists in hell and you'll also be firing off spells like a machinegun

A holy freeze merc sounds like a good idea to me, but I'm not convinced you should invest in a golem unless you have many +skills in your summon tree. Putting lots of points into 3 different skillls just to make your golem strong enough to survive in hell is not a good idea imo

dont forget 1 summon resist and prereqs; clay is very helpful. 1 pt is often enough; my old boner had a clay of approx 3k life with base golem.

as far as other skills go i think the best way is to use a curse and stick to it; ie put the rest into it. i think stinger recommends confuse, i know some like decrep, but i personally like dim vision. this little curse allows you to mf even wk2/3/throne with ease without tgods or wisp. and of course being party friendly is a plus.

block or no block: i really suggest block for all casters (trappers are the exception, because of claw block). really, it does only cost like 120 dex, and 240 life really isnt much for a caster anyway. better to put it into something actually useful (like blocking). ive been known to put max block on summoners even; this is more reasonable for boners (for lack of tanks).

bone armor: dont pump it. the only time it broke on me (completely) was against fana fast fanataurs, and i dont think u plan on mfing any areas with those in it. but that was hilarious when it broke.

merk: yes, hf definitely. and i would say use the super fast jabbing gear (mine did andys/bhew/valor, armor should actually be res armor) as his main use is against the magic immunes. for the rest of the monsters ur spells are faster.

weapon: wizzy is still my choice. easy to hit bps. 75 is what i used, this is good enough. only need 25 outside, which is either fcr ring+trangs gloves or viper and frosties (i used fcr ring/frosties/arach). you really wont miss the + skills; lets see, i only had 2+1+2+1+2=8 and soloing hell was a breeze (even faster than summon hybrids).

the only areas i mfed with my old boner were trav and throne, because for the other areas other chars are just more practical. jav/trapper are faster for chaos, most the rest are only accessible by teleporting.

hope this helps.

i never actually used bw on my boner, it lags the hell out of me

i had 1 in decrep rest in dim vision as my curses

actually attract if a very useful curse because it makes the monsters attack each other. I would go max block just incase. I did and i still had over 1k life and it did safe me a few times with 700+ absorb.

they both do athough confuse is better because i think its the one with a bigger radius

ah yes, phantom...i forgot that bonewalls are 'attackable' :)

confuse and attract effectively do the same thing... (ie make monsters attack each other) but they do it in a slightly different way

confuse is a big radius curse that causes all affected monsters to randomly attack anything that is near them, whereas attract is used against a single target & causes him to be the sole target of everything around them

A word of caution about these curses though...monsters up to what seems 1.5-2 screens away will get involved in the carnage when you start casting it around, so dont use it without thinking about what you are doing
I lost my lvl 80 necro when mephisto decided to charge down from where he usually is into one of those side chambers after i'd used attract on a dark lord boss pack in there

just as a side note, has anyone ever witnessed a high level confuse in the cow level?
lol...it makes me laugh everytime, although it works wonderfully for my delirium javazon

Sounds like something from the far-side cartoon: "When cows go mad"

Now, dont go and change your build due to my suggestion, but i really suggest you try and find a wand to cast Confuse and try it out. Even if oyu dont use Confuse later it is a sick curse at low lvls.

My Boner used 1 poitn Golem and a Barb Merc......Hf would be ok, but i relied on Confuse as my main curse so really I dont want them slowed while they kill each other!!!

Benifits for Confuse:

Monsters fight each other, not you and not your Merc and not your weak golem or your say 1 point Revives if you shoose to use them, or even the 1 point skeleis and Mages early in Norm and NM. Yes, i actually used Skellies and Mages wiht 1 point invested in NM and i mean late NM and they do hit pretty hard but die quick.

Confuse also "attracts" like Wall does and Attract itself. This simply gives you mosre monsters in a tighter area so you can kill one and CE the rest and you can make a 1 point CE investment work like it was maxed darn near.

Now.....in Norm, when your Boner is lvl 18 he has pitifull damage, pretty weak minions if any, but he can have confuse!!! Act 2 Scarabs!!! OH BABY, confuse them, pack of 20 Scarabs is a light show rarely exceeded by the 4th of July!!! Any other monster "attracted" to that light show is sickly smoked!!!

Boss Packs!!! Fanta, Miight, ARCHERS......kil thier own boss!!! Boss kills them!!! One time and only once in Asia i confused Desies pack, he immediately IMED them and they all died in a "blink" it was halarious!

Oblivs in WS are Dieing to thier own minions and thier minions are dieing to the oblivs......

Now....I strongly suggest you give this curse a good lookin at, especially if you invest even 1 point in it if you got 1 in all curse, or find a charged wand or one with ths skill. Easpecially use it at low lvls.

Oh ya, Council guys.....its funny when they fight each other especially when they Hydra each other. Or Bartucs guys beat on him and eat his lightning bolts while my Merc pumbles one of them and I quickly AMP the pack and destroy them.

I cant wait to accum some gear to make one, I had more fun with my Boney than any of my builds and its a shame TPPK forces him to play private as nobody wants to run with Boneys unless they know ya.

Even with all that said, tactics like Walls, Prisons, Decrep, Attract all do a fine job also but i personally liek confuse.
