bonemancer Question with a twist.

If i use a bonehew with its '50% Chance To Cast Level 16 Bone Spear On Striking' will my other bonespells + marrow's synrgize that bonespear ? :scratch:
and if they do can i put points in Bone Spear or not?

Normally I don’t respond to questions about Bonemancers, but this one seemed interesting. I searched around on the Statistics forum and found this thread. According to that thread the other Bone Spells and Marrowwalk will give a synergy to your Bone Spear. It does however mean that you can not put a point into Bone Spear.

If you use Marrowwalk and max the synergies this will give you a 879-928 damage Bone Spear for the price of 41 skill points.

Fascinating, I didn't know that the bug worked on ctc, I thought it was just charges.

With this in mind, shouldn't some super-rich necro out there build a BotD Poison/Melee hybrid. 20 in Dagger and 20 in Explosion with a BotD 'zerker would cause some serious carnage :uhhuh:

lol sorry Ej but a botd zerker is a axe not a dagger :lol:

Umm, Final, you seem to be missing the point. Poison Dagger and Poison Explosion were meant to synergise the BotD's Poison Nova.

I think you misunderstand me, Final. Let me explain:

If you were running around hitting stuff with a BotD 'zerker, every time your ctc Poison Nova activated, you would cast a fully synergised Poison Nova, doing 1781-1953 over 2 seconds with 20 in PDagger and PExplosion (not including +skills). You'd be spamming out fully synergised Novas without even having to cast them, and you'd only have paid 40 pts in order to do so.

If you're suggesting using a BotD dagger instead, then I'm afraid this is impossible, as you cannot get a 6-socket dagger. However, in any event I don't think it would work terribly well, as the Poison Novas would keep overwriting your Poison Dagger attacks with their inferior poison damage. Furthermore, your PDagger (and PExplosion) would not be fully synergised, as you wouldn't have any points in PNova.

Seriously though, I know you don't advocate the use of such bugs, but i'd certainly find this kind of information really useful if I was building a meleemancer, given that I'm not tied to the same sort of moral code that you are :evil:. If you do have qualms about it, then one sort of middle-ground might be to mention the existence of the bug and link to threads that offer more information, such as the one you link to from this thread. That way you paint the entire picture without getting your hands dirty.

It is not really a moral thing, but more part of the way that I like to play games. It is information that can be of importance when building a Meleemancer, certainly for various hybrids, so I guess that it at least deserves a link.

You can put a point into the skill and it still works, I've played around with botd on a venomancer that has pnova maxed. Doesn't make it "unsynergized" just like having a point into the skill when your facet goes off doesn't make the nova "unsynergized".

So does that mean that jordy could stick a point in Bone Spear and then put 20 into Spirit, giving him another synergy to his Bonehew's ctc Spear? That would bring it up to 1081-1141 Magic Damage using Marrowalks.

Not really. Crowd Control is not a big issue, damage and AR are.
