    bonemancer Merc, Def or Cold?

Since i'm nursing my first bonemancer I was wondering which Merc I should use?

I will probably be using a Insight Great Poleaxe so the biggest point is to keep the merc alive. i am just about to don the Morrowwalks so i doubt i will need to rely on the merc for anything but to Herd for the inevitable spamming of CE.

Which will keep him alive longer, the act 2 Freeze or the Act 2 defence aura/ i dont twink much so I don't have any uber-armor waiting for the merc, but am pretty sure some 1k rated armor should start to drop for me soon. (Now using a Faithful Sharktooth Mid 4's def wise).

If you think your necro is lacking some defense go for the defensive merc. If you're all set on defense, go for the holy freeze to slow down you're enemies.

this is for a bone necromance so he doesnt have to worry about skellies.

A defiance merc is better because higher defense = less chance of being hit.

but wouldnt Hf slow down how many attempts he makes(monster) to get hit.
Higher def = less chances, but monster still attacking repetitively. Hf monster strike about once or twice, gives more time for necro to regen and hit.

I would go with a might merc. a tank all on his own and with amp/decrep already the curses of choice, he is going to hit *really* hard. a little leech and some resists/pdr, and you are good to go.

It's the other way 'round --- skellies are raised once, if one should die occasionally... not all corpses shatter.

The main problem with holy freeze is that it hinders corpse explosion --- which is used by (most) Skelemancers, and should be used by many bonemancers as well.

Now, there's pro and cons to everything: a bonemancer could use Decrepify to slow the monsters, so no holy freeze needed. On the other hand, if holy freeze slows the monsters, the bonemancer can put lifetap on them, which will make the merc very happy...

EDIT: in fact, even Might has defensive value: increase your damage, and you decrease the monsters life expectancy :) It also increases the life leeched back per hit...
