It gives only one point of +skill more than Homo, but it is almost useless for blocking. The other thing it is better in than Homo is the faster run/walk. The rest of the stats are all in favor of Homo. I would go for Homo since it has the better resists.

Wasn't there a post exactly like this earlier?

I vote for perfect boneflame. Block is only useful if you have points in dex. On a vitamancer with as little dex as possible, the blocking mods on gomunculus are useless.

    Homoncolus
    Defense: 177-213 (varies)(Base Defense: 58-70)
    Defense: 58-70
    Required Level: 42
    Required Strength: 58
    Durability: 20
    Chance To Block: 72%
    (Necromancer Only)
    +150-200% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+5 To Mana After Each Kill
    40% Increased Chance of Blocking
    30% Faster Block Rate
    +2 To Necromancer Skill Levels
    +20 To Energy
    Regenerate Mana 33%
    All Resistances +40
+2 To Curses Skills (Necromancer Only)

    Boneflame
    Defense: 323-367 (varies)(Base Defense: 100-146)
    Required Level: 72
    Required Strength: 95
    Durability: 20
    Chance To Block: 30%
    (Necromancer Only)
    +120-150% Enhanced Defense (varies)
    +20% Faster Run/Walk
+2-3 To Necromancer Skill Levels (varies)
    All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
15% Chance To Cast Level 3 Terror When Struck

Boneflame would be useful on a vitamancer, that I admit, but the beautiful thing about homoncolus is that it has high(er) resists, regenerate mana/+20 to energy/mana after kill, much lower str requirements which allows you to pump more into vit, and much lower lvl req. The things that boneflame has over Homoncolus is -1 to curses (when compared) and +1 to summon/PnB, +20% faster run walk. It also has more defence, but that's nigh useless on a caster.

I'd still take homoncolus over boneflame.

Yes, but with enigma armor, the higher str reqirement on boneflame is circumvented. I agree that homunculus is more useful vs elemental classes due to higher resists, but I still think a perfect boneflame is better than homunculus say, in nvn.

I do like the mana regen on homunculus though, one of the most important mods you can have.

Why do you assume it is PvP? The original poster never mentioned it.

Mantis he assumes Pvp because why else would you make a bone/vitamancer? to kill monsters? I think not.

    But you're always drinking so...

Boneflame on PvP vit mancer vs. something you want to run away from, but since you need Enigma to wear it, you could tele...unless you're in a no tele dueling league...So Homo > Boneflame in most cases

Because in a differeent thread that he started(for a Venomancer/Summoner), he basically asked the same question in it, and is getting the same answers for the most part.

I don't recall if he said he had a perfect one or not in that thread, guess I :drink: too much that day.

Still the extra mana makes it all worth while.

I assumed it was pvp because I guess thats how I tend to think when it comes to vitamancers and bone necros, their optimal equipments, and so forth.

I think in certain situations boneflame defintely outshines the homunculus whenver blocking isn't an option, like on vitamancers. When you are following league rules and not using teleing on enigma, the extra damage and the faster run//walk really helps against necros, zons, paladins, and babas (although I would use SS rather than boneflame in these situations, the debate is not about Homo vs. Boneflame vs. SS, but Homo vs Boneflame :D )

Then boneflame is what you want, although I prefer 08 viscerant over both for nvn.

    There are 3 nec shields:

    1) Boneflame - Good for FRW / resist. Against another bone nec if u dun enigma or not allow to tele.
    2) Darkforce - good for FCR . To get 125 fcr break point. Against wind druid or bone nec.
    3) Homoculus - good for 75% block / resist. Good for elemental spell casters and ama.

I keep all 3 with me for different pvp situations.
