Body Recovery Equip Order Question

Body Recovery Equip Order Question

I'm trying to optimize my stat point placement and am interested in knowing the order in which the game attempts to equip items when you recover your corpse. I've heard that even if item A depends on item B in order to meet strength requirements, as long as the game equips B first, you're ok. For example, if my Boots need more strength than my naked character has, but my Mara's Amulet gives the +5 needed to equip the boots, then as long as the game equips amulet before boots, my boots will also equip on the same click.

Hopefully this makes sense. If so, what's the order of automatic equipping? Thanks!

I think the scan order appears like this, someone correct me if i'm mistaken:

Head
Neck
Chest
Right Arm
Left Arm
Right Ring
Left Ring
Belt
Feet
Gloves

Thanks! Any other comments on this? I'm pretty sure this was stickied somewhere at some time, but I've since forgotten where.

I don't think the order matters much - if it matters at all. Maybe it did once upon a time (in an earlier version), but it shouldn't now.

For example, let's assume skyjuice's list is correct (I know of nothing to contradict it), and you're playing a character with 95 base strength, that's wearing WarTraveller's boots and a CoH Archon Plate. Technically the CoH wouldn't be equiped first because the char doesn't have enough strength for the Archon Plate - but the +10 on the WarTrav's would provide enough that the CoH can be equipped. As far as I know, the CoH will then be automatically equipped, and you don't have to worry about your corpse "popping" - irregardless of the order the items are equipped. (just to be complete, the +20 str on CoH is irrelevant in this example).

If the order matters at all, I suspect it could (theoretically) have an effect on determining the "primary" weapon of a dual-wielding barb/assassin. But that's pure speculation. Otherwise I know of no other reason why it should make any difference.

Perhaps you're thinking of strength-bugging, but that's slightly different. In that case, you're usually using the stats on an item to keep itself equipped.

For example, you have 140 strength and are using a Stormshield (+35 str). You don't have enough on your own to equip the shield, so you don't get the +35 str benefit to start. But if you equip a ring with +16 str, you now have enough to bear the shield, and therefore gain the +35 benefit. At that point you can remove the ring and the +35 will still remain - so technically the Stormshield is using it's own stats to keep itself equipped.

But if you die in this scenario, you will no longer have enough strength to reequip the stormshield upon retrieving your corpse, and you'll need to use the ring again to help reequip the shield.

I am really not sure, becuase I usually don't play with SC characters unable to get the body by their own strength, but I think it matters. In the case you have a boots with +STR which you can equip and they give you just enough STR to wear the armor, then you will equip your boots, but the armor will be placed into your invenotory or it will remain on the floor if you don't have enough space in your inventory. You can click again on your body and the armor will be equipped then. I might be wrong here though...

[etc.]
I agree with this. I've stacked strength in all sorts of crazy ways and never had a problem unless there was a cyclic dependency.

Re: Body Recovery Equip Order Question

Thanks for the replies. Mainly I'm concerned with Sir Poopsalot's first example, in which items are used to equip other items. I want a single click to retrieve everything from my corpse. Assuming that the game only goes through each item once and tries to equip them one at a time, the specific order is important. If the game kept cycling through until nothing else could be equipped or everything is equipped, then the order is unimportant: as long as the items help each other get equipped, it'll work out in the end. Are you guys saying that the second is true: i.e. everything will equip with a single click as long as items help each other with stats?

Yes, the way sirpoops sum's it up is entirely correct. Example: My lightning sorceress has 98 base strenght. My amulet has 28, 10 from wartravs, 20 from CoH, giving her 156 strength to equip a monarch. It takes 1 click to recover my body, and all the gear is equipped as it was earlier.
