    Block

I can't decide whetever I'm going to go max block with my MF Blizz Sorc. With her MF equipment that is. She is going to use a Rhyme Grim Shield.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Block

Figure out how much dex you need to get max block and don't use more than that much dex.

    Fairly straight forth.

Might want to weigh your shield options before assigning dex though don't want to waste points in dex that could go into vit.

    Re: Block

I know I'm going to use that Rhyme Grim Shield, so I'll just have to figure out how much dex is needed for that.

I'm merely wondering if Pindle and Meph Runs requires hugh block or not.

No, they don't. I wouldn't bother with block if you are only running them.

For those two it doesn't really matter if you get max block or not.

    Re: Block

Meph runs definitely don't require block, since chances are you will be moating... I haven't found block to be useful at Pindle either, since your merc can easily tank for you. HOWEVER, for general play, 50% block or so has been useful to me.

EDIT: Hello to the many posters above me. ^^;.

    Re: Block

Block is pretty useless against Pindle.

I still like max block over vit since sorcs get crappy return on vit points.

But really I never really get hit running either of those guys so I guess it's kinda irrelevant either way for both of them.

    Re: Block

I find on MF chars, vit > block. Although this is an age old argument that'll keep coming up (just do a search, you'll find plenty of them), my conclusion is this:

I want to know if I'm about to die. If pindle charges my 75% block sorc, she's dead/very low HP if it hits, fine if it doesn't. If pindle charges my vit sorc, she's lost a bit of HP and still has the potential to block it.

    Re: Block

I just made a blizzsorc for mf and went pure vit. It's working quite well, even in AT, so I'd agree with your decision not to go for block.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that 'charges' from Pindle or his minions are unblockable - period.

so, no-block seems like a wise idea to me.

    Re: Block

I've seen this suggestion several times and would like to point out that moating is the slow way to meph. If you want faster meph runs you need to not moat, with the right gear (and occasional potion) your merc can tank meph and your runs will be faster.

Of course I too prefer vita so that's pointless to the OP.

    Re: Block

Agreed. Plus moating makes you feel like such a sissy. A little fancy feet dancing and you can avoid most of meph's attacks even if your merc does go down (which is pretty rare if he has the right equipment).

    Re: Block

Does it also apply to the snake charge? It seems monster charges are not blockable. If you cannot step aside/away before the charge hit you, you'd better have enough life to take the damage. I also fairly sure those undeed charges are highly bugged. Sometime they can do 1k+ damage without any nasty mod. I had several times lost over 1k life by a normal charge. It is also very common to lose merc if he got couple of charge landed on him (normally, merc will have around 1.8k - 2k life at least).

    Re: Block

I believe so, but I'm less certain.

As for the damage, sometimes things that don't sound dangerous really are. I recently took a few minutes to read this page, and realized how nasty some boss mods really are (scroll down).

    Re: Block

The charge isn't blockable but it IS possible to stop it - stun from skills like Shockwave and War Cry will do it, for example.

Not very relevant here, but kinda cool.

    Re: Block

My fev is mind blast, it stops almost everything and you can do it from far way, love that skill. talking of MB, IMO it is one of the best single crowd control skill, only necro curses can compare with it.

@sirpoopsalot:***But I still think charge damage is bugged.*** It simply does too much damage, when normal charge (no boss pack, no champ) can do over 1k damage.
