    We are now accepting questions from our community for the different Blizzcon Diablo III panels: Heroes & Monsters; Lore; and Art. We will gather the best questions. Flux and I will ask these on the Panel Q&As, and you will see this happen either on live streams or via DirecTV.

    We also welcome questions for Jay Wilson. We will have a few shots at him at the private press rooms. Don't forget to visit Diii.net through August 21-22. We will have a live blog contraption on the front page for those fans who are listening or watching the live stream or payperview. This will allow you to ask questions on the fly based on any new updates Blizzard reveals on the panels.

    Q: Do you plan to have an epic encounter @ the end of every dungeon? or will most be along the lines of Den of Evil?

    Q: Are the monsters going to be more Dark & evil, compared to Diablo 2. More along the lines of what we saw in Diablo 1?

    Lore:
    Q: Is the story going to be forced, or will players be able to make choices to determine some outcomes throughout the game?

    ART:
    Q: Would you say the art heads into a more epic dark evil as you progress, or is it more along the lines of what we saw in Diablo 2?

    Q: Will inventory item graphics look more epic then Diablo 2? Perhaps animated..

    Q: Will boss monsters drop their own unique items which cannot drop from any other monster ? Example: Butcher's Cleaver in Diablo 1.
    Q: Will heroes get rewards for something that is not related to quests but rather doing things like clearing an entire area of monsters or discovering burried treasure?

    Lore:
    Q: Besides readable books that are quest related, will we be able to read books about the lore like in Diablo 1 ? Example: The Great Conflict, The Dark Exile.
    Q: Are Lesser Evils going to be more involved in the story, specifically Azmodan and Belial ?

    ART:
    Q: Are night and day going to have bigger impact on the game than in previous titles, specifically concerning wildlife, law of physics and also gameplay ? For example: are we gonna encounter creatures that only appear at night thus adding more atmospheric elements to the game ?

    Q: Will there be a way to build an item set, and have it be useful for leveling or endgame, when you actually get the whole set?
    Q: Will there be buff/debuff timers?
    Q: What is the role of crafting in Diablo III?

    Art:
    Q: Will we be able to zoom in to our character as was done in the gameplay video, and appreciate the armor and weapon art in game as opposed to the inventory screen?

    On a side note, I'll also be making Blizzcon this year (albeit only the first day), so if they have a panel Q&A that day I can try and help log through some of these questions as well

    Q: Will there Durability for armor and weapons?
    Q: Will defensive skills be more important than they were in Diablo 2?
    Q: Will there be a way to transfer gear and items between characters on the same acount? (Maybe a shared bank like Titan's Quest)
    Q: There has been a lot of talk about max levels for skills. Bashiok has said something about skills being able to go higher than the max. Is the max just raised for higher difficulties or is there a way to raise it through some other means?

    Lore:
    Q: Outside of the locations we will explore, will we learn about other areas in Sanctuary? (Places like Westmarch, Sharval Wilds, ect) If so, how will learn about them, through books, NPC's or both?

    Question for Jay Wilson:
    Q: Is there any chance that a level editor might come out for Diablo3?

    (echod16 is someone taking your ticket for the second day? If not can I have it?) LOL

    Q. As far as dungeons go will their be a boss encounter in each, about how many do you think the game will have?

    Q. Is the game really getting the mature rating, it so can you do into the detailed aspects of the game that is giving it this rating (aka level of blood and gore or mild nudity)?

    Q. As far as crafting goes Im not one to sit in town and skill up, but will their be any type of salveging skills (like the ones from warhammer)?

    Q. What will trigger groups of mobs to attack Agro range or something else, also will mod striaght up attack you or be given a smart AI that will confront each class diffentely?

    Lore:
    Q.It Diablo back, if so whats the story on that?

    Q. Will questing tell more about how thing came to be?

    Art:
    Q. Will the art work be out for more bosses and the finale characters of the gave?

    Q.Will their be any videos of new lands, characters, or Mobs at blizzcon?

    I dont really know where this fits in but I would love to know if they have plan for guild/clam support, if so to what extent?

    1) Have any decisions been made on the mechanics of 'respecing'?

    1a) If significant respecing is allowed, are any mechanics being considered that would make people want to have more than one character of each class?

    2) Any updates on Hardcore mode? How will it be different than in D2?

    Q: Can you get into some of the ideas and features that you plan on implementing that will keep D3 indefinitely playable and enjoyable, from the perspective of character (i.e. I know about random encounters and such, but what will keep, say, the Barbarian interesting after months of continuous play? It seems that more than an unfolding skill tree is needed to accomplish this feat. I always liked the way that Starcraft played differently from one race to the next, as the game progressed; has there been any consideration on how you could achieve such an evolving dynamic within D3? (obviously through a completely different mechanism)) Far too many companies, lately, rely solely on multi-player dynamics to achieve this state of continued interest and diversity.

    Q: can the habilities be united between characters, something like a barbarian making a juggernaut with a fire spell from the wicht doctor

    Q: can the weapons and armours be imbued??, if yes, would be part of a quest or can the player pay for that??

    Lore:

    Q: What happened, at the end of diablo 2, with the baal's soulstone, it was destroyed or keeps untouched and will be part of diablo 3??

    Q:If belial and azmodan appears on diablo 3... they will be allies of diablo or they will be like other enemies??

    Q: when it will appears more abd-al-hazir's written, before the game or all the missing ones will appear in the game

    Q: what happened with tyrael

    Q. the game will be divided in acts like D2

    Lore Question:
    1) Diablo's return to Sanctuary, sure does sounds similar how Lilths returned to a "nexus point or ley-line" location of Sanctuary in Scale of the Serpent Sin War novel.
    2) What is the Order of Zakarum and their corrupted ruin Temple City of Travincal status.
    3) Could the Necromancer underground city may lie in the jungles of Kehjistan? Rathma and Kalan were sent there by Trag'Oul to study the hidden powers that lie there. It does seem the only likely place in the world that necromancers could remain safely hidden from the rest of Sanctuary.


    Medievaldragon are you having another Lore Q&A interview with Chris Metzen like previously at the NY ComicCon, sense I see no way how you and Flux could ask all of these questions and there also the other two games.

    Q. What plans are there to make the end game less repetitive, and still be a viable means to reach the level cap?

    Q. What plans/ideas are there to level the playability of Magic Find characters in D3? In D2, people where creating sorceress to find items for their other characters, which seem like a roundabout system.

    Q. Will the respec system allow for players to really experiment with many different builds, or will it exist to make minor changes to each character?

    Q. What is being done keep skills consistent in their playability throughout the game? ie. Preventing skills from being powerful in early parts of the game, but have a serious drop in effectiveness later on, and similar situations.

    Q. What kinds of landscapes can we expect? What kinds of proportions will be given to the outdoors and inside buildings/dungeons?

    Q: Will monsters have weak/strong point in relation to where you hit them? I mean, a big boss might be armoured at the front, and has a weak point at the back, so you need to get a team member to lure it. I know this was done with skeletal shieldmen, but they can drop easily.

    Q-1. What is the completion percentage of DIII

    Q-2. I know Blizzard is all about waiting till they are pleased with the results of a game before its release (and I don't blame you), but my question is can we expect to see DIII in 2010?

    Q-3. With the new B-Net launch will players get any type of fix for the all annoying "failed to join game"?

    Q-4. It's really annoying to be temp banned from your account if you go in and out of your mule accounts too fast. With the lauch of DIII and the new B-Net system will Blizzard know the difference between hacks and players jumping in and out of thier mule accts too fast?

    Q-5. Will magical, rare and uniqe items, hi power runes, ect, drop percentages be better in DIII than previous games?

    Sounds like a good idea. I should probably pursue this either at Blizzcon (if allowed to) or after Blizzcon.

    He had said a couple of times he loves visiting my articles and stuff. And there is a line of communication going -- for now I must keep that under wraps. I might be able to talk more about this soon.

    Question to Jay preferably - but anyone you can ask this to who might know the answer will do just fine!


    Q: Will players who do not have a broadband Internet connection or lack an acceptable latency on Battle.Net servers be able to play multiplayer with the absence of LAN play?

    Q: Will there be any solution, such as allowing LAN play when connected to and authenticated on Battle.Net servers, for those of us living too far away to enjoy stable and responsive connections to Battle.Net servers?

    [In a gritty voice]: Hm...no gameplay mechanics category. I think I'll go with
    Heros and Monsters

    -How will a barbarian armed with a sword be any different than a barbarian armed with an axe (besides appearance)? In d2 there was no difference, really.

    -Will characters get bonus skill and stat points from quests like in d2? Moreso?

    -Can characters take faster run/walk (if it's in d3) and increased attack speed higher than in d2 or about the same?

    -Any mods (like the faster run/walk) NOT going into d3 due to fear of exploitation?

    -What is the biggest weapon a barb can wield with one hand?

    -Can any other characters dual wield or have different inate abilities exclusive to their class (ex: warrior's repair skill form d1)?

    -Can characters use other class' skills by equiping items that grant them skills not found in their trees?

    -In d3 what would be considered an extreme amount of maximum life for a barbarian? (ballpark estimate in the thousands is good in enough)

    -Will the barbarian get some missile skills?

    -How many armor designs will we see on the screen being worn by characters? Or, will we see each item like gloves going on and off the character?

    -Will there be items like circlets that encourage characters' naked look?

    -Are there missile weapons (or melee weapons for that matter) we won't see returning to d3 due to redundancy like crossbows?

    -When the witchdoctor puts on full plate, will it turn into leaves and bones? If not, how does the character look 'right' in a metal suit of armor since his culture does not seem to support constructing metal armor?

    -Will armor work like shields where it absorbs a certain amount of damage, or will it remain hit or miss based like in d2?

    [Moving on to monsters]

    -Are monsters divided into demon, undead and animal types like in d2? Will there be other types?

    -Will there be more ways of breaking monster immunities?

    -Will there be monsters who are double immune?

    -Will the packs of mobs be the same size (in number) as in d2, or bigger, or fewer?

    -Will some monsters tend to drop specific things like ghosts in d2 dropping only small items?

    -Is the goldfind mod coming back in d3 or would that mess up the gold system which may have more importance?

    -Will there be more info in-game, or will diminishing returns and breakpoints be in d3? In d2, it was ideal for players to actually stop playing the game to look up this vital info.

    -Can you do things to monster bodies before they disappear?

    -Ladder, yes or no?

    -Pants. Seriously? jk. Real question now: is there a possibility more body parts will be added so characters can equip more items (ex: bracelet, cape slot)? We're greedy you know.


    They will pick some questions, not ask all.

    It's already been mentioned there will be no immunities in D3.

    ^I thought Bashiok said there would likely be immunes, but we will all have more than 2 attacks in general to help. It was a confusing blue text, but maybe you're right.

    (Plus there were posts made afterwards about what people think of immunes).

    Q: How do you intend to fix the problem where defensive skills are rendered obsolete by items?
    Q: How will the new skill trees with few prerequisites avoid the problem where the optimal endgame plan is to put points only into passives and your attack skill(s), leaving you with nothing to bash monsters with BEFORE you acquire your attack skill(s)?

    Q: Any chance the skill icons will be redone?
