Blizzard's Mess

Hello Everyone!!!

Ok!!! Good to have you all along in this fight!! NA NA NA NA!!, NA NA NA NA!!, HEY HEY HEY!!! GOODBYE!!!

Manago, real quick before I get into it. The whole point of this fight is so that what I consider legit capable players no longer have to find alternative means to play this game. We bought Xpac way back when and I as a strong member will follow it through to the end. I consider this game ours and not the people who try to sully it up by doing something that is easy. I feel we must reclaim this game for not only moral reason but also because we are the people who made this it as successful as it was. Anyone can hack, lets show them what work and team work really is!!!

Now, to continue on....

1stly, I have created an email address to keep people updated and to better organize members who are going to partake in this epic battle. Its located at

[email protected]

I would like to get your emails and also any suggestion or demands out of blizzard you may have. I will need to compile a list of what we want out of them. I want to continuously make everyone feel a part of this as much as possible because you all need to see how important this is really going to be.

I am also in the banana (op xbananax) channel most of the day, and given that I'm not afk will be there to answer any questions and if anyone needs convincing.... I'LL PUMP YOU UP!

Next, after just half a day we have managed to get the support of 16 hardcore players which is quite impressive and a good start to reaching our goal. If anyone can please spread the word to your friends and old members that have stopped playing to get as much as we can that would be great!! I will be doing the same. Here is a list of everyone included so far....

Relativity
Unko Talok
Corn
Tai
Toolman
Nuzzo
PhatTrumpet
WrongdayJ
Mz33
BTK-Angel
KND
Gambit
Barrynor
MrKaxe

This is very good for one night!!! However, need more all the time, I am going to go over to sc today and plead our case. I will be making the post as concise as possible as to rally as many people as possible.

Finally, and this could be the most important aspect of this post is that I have set a date, in approximately 2 weeks

its SATURDAY JUNE 23rd!!!

We will form a band on this day and take down blizzard with it so lets all give it all we've got and make the biggest ruckus known to man!!!!

There will be more postings and emails and I will be in the banana channel to keep contact with everyone. Don't hesitate to write and one last thing

DON'T GIVE INTO CLASSIC!!! LETS TAKE BACK WHATS OURS!!!! It's not fixing the problem it's just submitting to Blizzard!!! This is our game!!!!

Classic is ruined. Classic players are baaling now with some kind of act 5 hack, so it takes the point out of classic too.

What's with spamming this all over the forums?

It's our game? Since when? I don't recall coding this game.

Like it or not, it's Blizzard's game. Play it... or don't. You can scream and type in all caps and e-mail Blizzard all you want, but you have absolutely no leverage. It's a free game, it's ten years old, and you're welcome to stop playing it at any time. I really don't see how any sane person could possibly think that Blizzard can be bullied into doing anything. Keep in mind, this is a company that just recently stuck it to E-Bay. I doubt you'll even make it onto their radar, though you had 16,000 supporters - much less sixteen total...

Thanks for your opinion FrankWest, feel free to not take part in this movement. Other still intend to continue on with the plans. Sorry you don't agree, your support would have been appreciated. If you change you mind later and decide it's worth the effort, we would gladly accept your support.

Why the multi-forum spam? For the record, no one got banned for disagreeing. No one told the OP or anyone else they couldn't believe anything; they (including me) just told them frankly that it was futile and economically unfeasible. Upon which the "go away because you disagree with me mentality came in." I also love how things got brutally twisted out of context. Mixed in with some honest mistakes and then, essentially, calling a mod incompetent well....that's another matter altogether. I, gorny, nor Bjorgin ever told anyone they couldn't try to do or believe anything, although the reverse was true (while comparing dissenters to disoriented, lazy hackers...)

However, if this approach would have been taken in the first place, there wouldn't have been a problem:

That is the respect I was referring to, which I'm hoping was sincere. If we can keep it on this level there is no reason why Gorny or any other mod would intervene. I hope it is merely taken as a learning experience and move on.

I'll wish you luck with your cause, but that's about it.

I'm not looking for a civil brawl over this matter, this is hopefully going to stay respectful.

However, respect goes both ways. If you don't agree with what we're doing that's your opinion. It's not helping anything in my eyes. Claims that the only thing to be lost is time, then simple disagreement could be viewed by some as the same thing.

This is not meant out of any disrespect or hurt to any other members for I feel that this affects us all and are attempting to do something in everyone's best interests.

1) I hope it stays respectful, too. When it doesn't (whether it's someone of your opinion or of a different opinion) it makes the person in question look really bad. And when it gets to the point where someone is publicly denouncing a Moderator - that goes beyond the point of making the person in question look bad, in my (and I doubt I'm alone) opinion.

2) I hope you understand that to a lot of people, the "in everyone's best interests" thing is going to seem at least false and possibly quite arrogant as well. Just because someone doesn't care/disagrees doesn't put them on the level of a cheater/hacker, as you insinuated earlier - and the fact that a couple dozen (out of a thousand currently online) have agreed with your cause certainly doesn't do much to suggest that everyone feels this is in their best interests. I'd suggest a slight decline in the grandoise approach, and appreciate that this is a grassroots effort at the very best. Let people decide for themselves what's best, no one has the right to decide that for them.

Personally, I think that even if this does make a blip on Blizzard's radar - which is unlikely - it will at most serve only to ANNOY them, which... probably isn't the best idea, when you're dealing with a decade old game that they're not making any money from. Be thankful for what you've been given - which is a functional chunk of servers which Blizzard pays for themselves despite receiving no further income from D2. All their games in the future will be pay-to-play - try to appreciate the last refuge from that which we've been given. Sorry, but your movement here is looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Now how was that a worthwhile post?

If you don't agree with what's going on, why would you come in and troll?
I understand this is an open forum and you're entitled to your opinion, but it has no place in this conversation except to incite ire, so leave.

Cheers

What a disappointing thread in the community forum; it would seem some of the members there have a sort of learned helplessness. "Blizzard will never listen so why even try?" is their mentality. But then the timeless phrase "nothing ventured, nothing gained" comes into play. All their pessimism did was serve to derail the thread into chaos due to conflicting viewpoints.

And according to Gorn us here in the HC forums act "inappropriately," because I suppose threads of old players trying to connect, people sharing their near death (or death) experiences, and people sharing their anguish over the current state of hardcore can be considered "inappropriate." For shame people! For shame! You should instead be posting threads like LOOK WHAT ITEM I FOUND!!, threads about charm rerolling, and threads about glitched uber leveling (oh what? Thou Shalt Not Pimp or aid the Pimping of hacks, Cheats or Farming? I guess leveling multiple characters from 1 to 80 in an hour is exactly how it was intended).

[/rant]

Anywho, does anyone remember the time when STING or someone put together a mass e-mail campaign? I think it was about fixing hammer tppk; and a few weeks later I do believe it was fixed. But I could be wrong. It was so long ago I have a hard time remembering.

PS. Trish is a troll.

Please.. continue to talk about the original topic..enough rants for the day.
Thank you. I'd prefer to not see this thread closed too (and would support the mods closing it if people started to criticize their actions).

What happened in the community forum was ugly. A couple people posting in not-so-nice ways got severely out of hand, and when a mod tried to cool it off, he was attacked. So, one person really kind of ruined that front for all of us. Let's *not* make martyrs of ourselves and complain about it. It's not what this thread is about.

I wish that I had something to say on the actual topic at hand, but right now I'm dead tired and depressed as a man can get without being considered an Emo. I'll try to be more lively tomorrow, all.

how are you a worthwhile poster?
Disagreeing is trolling now? Interesting way to spin it. If you're not with us, you're against us.

So leave = polite for GTFO. Cept it's not really polite. So leave.

This Gorm mod is a freaking Nazi who is acting antithetical to the purpose of the forums, which is to encourage discussion. He actually does the opposite. If you express an opion contrary to his, you're out. How nice. That's what we call censorship.

@Jackson, Sorry I don't read this forum every day so I didn't realize the daily rant limit had already been met. My apologies. But my points are valid.

You gain nothing if you don't try; and I haven't seen many attempts to create mass e-mail campaigns, I've seen more petitions than anything, which as proven time and time again, are ineffective.

Anyway, Trish are you planning on giving out a generic template for the e-mail, or are we each writing our own?

(You might also want to look up STING's mass e-mail campaign if it's still archived on these forums)

Okay. I'm done. This movement seemed to have some kind of purpose and drive to it, but if its members are going to flame authority figures that sacrifice their time and energy to read over posts and try to circumvent flaming, I don't want any part in it. Parsnips, I hold nothing against you, and sincerely hope that, if you find other such forums, you have more luck there. I'll likely still send you an Email and participate to that extent, but I'm sure as hell not going to be helping with the organization with thins kind of stuff going on.

Good luck, all, and I hope that, with enough well-established people and enough connections and enough noise, we can shake some foundations.

EDIT: This refers to sunshine and starlightstarbright (among others), not the post directly above me. I was ninja'd!

I read the thread in the community forum, among others, and I haven't seen any major problems with how things were handled.

At the current rate, this thread is going to end up like the community one.

Sure, you can say that most people have acquired a "learned helplessness" mentality, but you could also say that those same people have already come to the same realistic conclusion that it's highly unlikely anything is going to come out of this. This isn't the first time something like this has come up (not just this forum either). These things haven't worked in the past, so why do you expect everyone to simply think that this is going to work? We've seen nothing to convince us otherwise.

Unless you guys go into this whole movement with that knowledge in mind, you're not going to win alot of people. If you assume that everyone who isn't prepared to help you are simply lazy or do not care, then the only thing you'll accomplish is to insult alot of people, which won't help your case.

Parsnips,

I admire your intent, but what exactly are you hoping to gain here? Can you realistically say that this will result in the end of most hacks and cheats on battle.net? Are you asking Blizzard to devote time and resources to a situation that in all possibility might be impossible?

This is not meant as flame or anything, but actual questions that I'm interested in asking. I mean, we've all had our times when we've been annoyed at something (or someone) and wanted to do something, but I'm just interested to see if you understand the scope of what it sounds like you're asking.

It's easy to simply say that if Blizzard could have done something about it by now, they would have. I also know that that statement will most likely result in alot of disagreement straight away but it's a logical assumption. Blizzard's not stupid. They know that there's alot of D2 gamers out there.

Also, where exactly is your anger focused on? Blizzard, or the actual people who use the hacks?

Yes, I pretty much agree with what you're saying. But instead of getting 1000 people who think it will never work posting "it will never work," I think it would have been a tad more productive (if this whole 'plan' can even be productive) if there weren't those kinds of posts, which, in essence, are spam. But that's partially the fault of Parsnips for not elaborating and/or asking for only posts in support of her idea.

I'd also like to see the answers to the questions you asked, Orphan.
