Blizzard Rewards Dupers?

Blizzard Rewards Dupers?

Before I question the game developers thinking here, I just want to say how FUN this ol' game is.

Now..It seems to me, in an attempt to rid the Diablo economy of thousands of duped sojs (Stone of Jorden), all they did was allow anyone with "tons" of the rings to trade them in for the most Godly charms one can imagine.

Am I off base here or are the rich (Dupers), and a few good traders who aquired a small hoard of sojs, getting richer and the rest of us in left to twist in the cold wind?

Now I know a few lucky or hard working people have gotten one or two Annihilus charms without having piles of sojs to sell. I have managed to obtain five myself. four by hard work and one in a trade. But all in all it seems a rather unbalanced approch of wealth dispersion and surely not much motivation to cease duping.

Just wondering what you all think...

Well, I could address this from a different prespective.

You see, I play D2C. In classic, the triggering of the world event works the same way, in fact I've fought the Dclone on classic several times. However, in classic, he doesn't drop anything, nor does he give any good xp. So the only reward I get is facing off with the Dclone and walking off the victor.

Its probably a bit idealistic to think that even if the Dclone didn't drop anything, people would still trigger him for the challenge. I'd like to think so. Besides, except for a few rare cases, dclone takes several people to take him down, usually after a pitched battle.. and yet it still bubbles down to one person letting his (and I use this term loosely) 'friends' finish off the dclone while he gets ready to swipe the charm.

My information might be a bit off, but isn't it true that now with the advent of Dclone, non-ladder duped SoJs can be turned into a 'legit', ladder Annihilus? (By selling in nl, triggering in ladder, killing D)

You don't understand, go read this thread. You'll see that many people are rewarded with DC spawnings and not just the individual SoJ sellers. Most annihilus owners such as yourself have never sold a single SoJ. The thread will also answer your questions regarding ladder/nl DC spawning.

Also, there was a long period between SoJ duping and 1.10 when SoJs were practically worthless in some realms such as USwest. In anticipation of the new 1.10 economy, many people started trading for the cheap SoJs and their value rose again.

You see, even someone who never duped before could have gotten ahold of many SoJs. Before the patch, I traded for 40 SoJs using pgems. However, I never used them since I played the new ladder and had no use for my old accounts.

Yes, but only if you have a ladder game open on the same server as the non-ladder game. You would need friends or two computers to achieve that. I bet you knew that though didn't you.

Yes, all you have to do is be on the same server as those who are selling sojs. I would look for stone counts and then go make a private game in hell on that server. Three times I was able to get the Clone, the first time took 10 hours of animation lock in outer cloister before the Clone appeared.

The last annihilus charm was won in a public game. No one found me and the Clone and it took me maybe 5-8 minutes to beat the Clone.

I had traded for about 30 to 40 sojs when they became cheap and so far have only sold one for the Clone.

Um... say... You wouldn' t want to unburden yourself of all those non-ladder sojs and other gear would you? *wink* *wink* Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Good hunting on ladder..I'll be there on the next reset.

I'm just speculating here but I think that initially, blizzard cooked up the 'world event' as something to spice up 1.10 and maybe rekindle the spark in many of the old veterans.

I'm guessing that the SoJ selling was just 1 of prehaps many methods put on the table to trigger it. It was probably chosen because it had a side effect of greatly affecting economy on the realms, though they probably didn't put too much thought into it. For better or for worse, the world event certainly added spice to .10 and if anyone can get proper figures, I'd bet that the days and weeks when the world event was the cause of speculation or discussion on many channels and forums were the busiest the Diablo realms have been in a long time.

Anybody know if there are still dupe methods for SOJS on BNet? If not, and Blizzard knows this, maybe in a couple months all the Annihili will go *POOF* and be gone forever. That's what I hope to see happen. Because then, no "overpowered" charms or duped sojs.

Just an observation...

If you're tired of playing with people that either have overpowered charms or duped, overpowered runewords.. or both, then come play classic. The classic ladder is relatively dupe-free and although its not as busy and D2X, the D2C realms still have a large number of people playing on it. No one ever complains about overpowered or duped items there. In classic, if your build is wrong then no amount of items will 'fix' it, and if your build is right, the slightly powerful items that exist add a lot to the build.

U dont have to duping be rich..there are hell a lot of players out there are rich and don't duped. Just like the real economy works. You dont have to rob a bank to get the $$ ...but working around the loophole and get rich. So...stop whinning why people are rich and you're sob poor. Now thing about that. d2 economy is just like real world. There is a poor class, middle class and filthy rich class

I would guess that if Blizzard wanted to get rid of sojs they would just eliminate them rather than make the Clone to "create" all the "overpowered" annihilus charms only to "poof" them. So....I am guessing that the "anni" charms are here to stay. And they are somewhat Godly or overpowered. (I want more.)

I hope you get your own annilihus charm if you want one. I would like to see a more even distribution of the charms as I know many more advanced players don't have even one, hence the reason for my starting this thread.

And...No, there aren't any soj duping programs working right now.

I don't suppose anyone has compared the frequency of the event on the different realms? On Asia, I've never seen the walks message, and I've played 4 characters to the mid 80's and beyond since 1.10 came out. Recently, the counter just doesn't even display for hours. Maybe we're getting shaftet 'cause SoJs weren't duped so much on Asia (spculation on my part) :S

Maybe we can trigger it by sell El runes or gems next, pleeeze...
