Blizzard Defends Enchanting Legacy Items Changes

Unless you\'re not rewriting the rules just to add MOAR POWER but to increase options and remove broken mechanics.

They still have that gear. Bringing it over into RoS is optional. They can continue playing just D3 and being awesomely-geared there.

Most expansions for RPGs engage in such mudflation that nothing from the previous game retains any real end game value. D2X mostly did, all the WoW expansions have, etc. So it\'s kind of an odd debate point; everyone expected D3 gear would be obsolete in RoS, and it is... just for a slightly different reason.

Sorry, I worded my reply to you badly, that\'s not the point I was trying to make. I was wondering why you, as well as many others, were complaining (rightfully!) that D3 itemization was a bit shoddy, and that sweeping changes were needed. And then getting quite vehement that Blizz are actually trying to change it in a very minor way by disallowing enchanting on legacy items to prevent them becoming over powered? It seems a bit contradictory to me is all.

Otherwise, I agree (mostly) with your points!

Every time i come to this page I see travis\' face up top there. I have never hated a face more in my life. These people are freaking morons. I\'m so sick of the bad decisions that are piling up like broken old cars in a junk yard. It\'s as if they\'re determined to ruin this game.

Ahaha! We'll be saying the same thing about Loot 2.0, till Loot 10.0

But, with Bound on Social Security Number, or Bound on Birth Certificate...
Maybe. Though I doubt I would be staying around until 10.0 loot then :p

I certainly think loot 2.0 is FAR from perfect. Not even great.
Time will tell if it is good enough to make RoS interesting. I have my doubts.
But it surely is a huge step over 1.0.

lol, I thought I was the only one.

I don't lifetime-hate the guy, but his face sure disgusts me; not because he is hideous or anything, but because I associate his face with disappointment and low expectations.

Jay was starting to catch on this wasn't an MMO. Then he got replaced, and we're back at square 1.

Here's another funny development. Blizzard believes it's too close to release to properly balance enchanting legacy items so they won't change it back. Then.... how was it not too close to just leave it alone, like it was for the several months prior?

Course what they really mean is they couldn't make better items better, so they instead had to hide their incompetence yet again.

"Look, more hidden footprints!"

I wasn\'t sure how I would feel about not being able to modify legacy items when RoS goes live ... but looking at my current gear on RoS, I am pretty much wearing all my legacy items ... but cleverly re-rolled one stat to make my wizard brutally broken with the new passive skills. I can understand why they want to phase out the old items ... because otherwise you wont ever find anything close to beating your old gear out. I replaced a few items from D3classic with new RoS legendaries (shoulders, gloves, wand) just because these CLEARLY roll better stats than legacy items ... other than that .. you can run torment with old stuff re-rolled by the mystic. I am okay with having to swap out my legacy gear when the game goes live ... I will just have to be clever with my paragon points and new gear to make my wiz work. I think overall once this is all said and done ... D3 RoS will feel much more like D2 than D3 classic ever did. I am looking forward to it.

I think they should use different servers for RoS, D3V, Ladders and Hardcore. Like you can now play in 3 realms (EU, US and Asia) and so have 3 places to start from scratch. But by using the 4 playtypes as realms instead of geographical locations, the game can be balanced for each type of play.

Things have changed so much in RoS, starting from scratch won\'t be a real problem for the experienced players and all their stuff they had in D3V would be obsolete quite quickly. Also, all stuff they bought in the auction house would be overpowered or obsolete quite quickly. With this solution they can still look at those items when they play D3V again. And with all the gear changes, you can create the new build types from scratch. And no advantage for players creating build types with gear that is no longer obtainable for players that don\'t have that gear from \'the old days\'.

The ladders would be resetted anyway on regular basis, so by making them a different \'realm\' you solve this issue easily.

As for hardcore: I\'m really frustrated sometimes that my softcore and hardcore characters have to come from the same limited pool. I like diversity, playing the game a lot on PC and console, and on the console I switch between all 5 classes and different difficulty modes. But with the limitations on the number of characters you can have, I have to implement some tricks to do the hardcore mode on the console (I only play hardcore in soloplay, so I created an extra account on the console without PSN account, being able to play the game only on offline mode.)
