X% Chance to break down (destroy?) your opponent's equipment. (Monster only? repairable, there are many ways to combine this mod)
X% Chance to cast a knockbackwave on strike.
X% Chance to dodge.
Teases Monsters. (Makes the monsters more aggressive)
X% Chance to persuade the monsters. (Like Mind Blast.)

+% chance to gain a new static orb charge.
+1 to all skill every sucessful hit for 15 seconds (stacks maximum 15 times)
+X to tomahawk skills
+to enemy difficulty (just like more players in game)
+ X thonry damage (adds damage when you HIT and when you RECEIVE damage)

I have no idea if someone has said this before (i didn't read everything) and if somebody did then im sorry.

My idea would be some affixes that affect each other in positive or negative effects. ex:
lets say im a barb and im wielding two axes one with a godly affix and one with a satanic affix. (what these do i don't know yet...)

but what if these would work together to increase damage as they could be in the same type of affix "level" or such. so you get a great dmg bonus or whatever but since these obviously don't "work" together they would cause a major negative effect.

or there could be set items (like in DII) but instead of some pre made items for 1 set i can build my own set.

imagine having a full equip with only "good" affixes wouldnt you want a bonus for it? and imagine the hard work you put in finding items with good affixes that gives the bonuses you want, it would make almost every character unique as it doesnt only have to be "good" or "bad" affixes it could be "water" or "fire" for the biggest opportunities.

that may have been confusing so im going to make an ex in gear:

wet helmet of X
dripping gloves of X
waterfall platemail of X
moist shoes of X

now that could be a set that increases your water damage but its just that they aren't a real set so i could change my shoes to:

slippery shoes of X and it would still work as a full set.

and to make it more fun it could make the char look wet and if the items are fire related the char could burst into flames!

EDIT: the more items i have with related affixes the bigger or cooler the "special effect" could be, so with 2 fire related items my char is barely burning but with a full set i would be bursting in flames that maybe could have a thorn effect? so the more items the bigger, cooler and better effect i would get.

EDIT2: i know this isnt much of a suggestion for affixes but i think it should be posted here since it does affect affixes...

Forces opponents to sleep when they hit you. Not so good against regular mooks but against bad boys it can be useful for keeping their tough minions at bay.

Echoing: repeats damage done by a successful hit over time. Each repeat/pulse deals half as much damage as the previous repeat. So if you hit for 128 damage, half a second later 64 damage is automatically dealt, then after another half a second 32 damage, then 16, then 8, then 4. Limit to say 5 repeats.

of Desperation: on a weapon, increases damage if health falls below 25%, on armour increases defense.

of the Coward: increases defense and life, decreases damage and attack rating.

Sneaky: small chance of a successful hit allowing you to use a target's skill for a period of time.

Biege: chance that a successful hit will cause a monster to lose all interest in attacking you for a period of time.

of XX Mastery: appears on armour, gives a boost to attack rating and damage when equipping a specific weapon type.

Rotting: chance on a successful hit for target to slowly lose health over time. Also slowly reduces defense, attack rating, resists and damage until the effect wears off, when these stats return to their original values.

of Healing: fast regeneration, but significantly reduces other key stats while healing is occuring.

Joker's: On a weapon, each hit produces a random effect, such as increasing or reducing damage or attack rating on the next successful hit, or adding a random type of damage, or reducing any elemental damage to 0, or slowing or even speeding up the target. On armour, each hit sustained causes a random effect such as extra damage, healing, increased or decreased resistance on the next hit.

Of the Sucker: displays impressive stat boosts, but actually only has a small effect, or no effect (only appears on rares so you don't know it's there).

Obsessed: dramatically boosts one type of damage and negates all others.

Of Immunity: +50% to one resist, set max for that resist to 100%, -50% to all other resists.

Of Synergy: On a weapon, grants a bonus to fire resist (or cold or lightning or...) if the player deals fire damage with the currently active skill. On armour, enhances fire damage (or cold or lightning or ...) by the amount of the player's fire resistance.

Concrete: Gives a massive boost to defense but slows walk/run speed significantly.

Heavy: Increases damage but reduces attack speed.
Light: Increases attack speed but reduces damage.

of Tears: Each successful hit reduces life but replenishes mana at double the rate of life loss.

of the Jester: randomly either doubles your damage (2/3 chance) or sets it to zero (1/3 chance).

of Conflict: 5% chance per second to confuse nearby enemy.
of Warning: reveals enemies on map in 25 yard radius.
of Lifeshield: reincarnate with 5% life on death.

My apologies to Nethack.

Vengeful: high velocity arrows.
Accurate: arrows arc towards target.

Untouchable: item defense x2 for 3 seconds after being struck.
Legendary/Mythic/Epic: 2/4/6% chance to do x2 damage for 3 seconds after striking.

of Frenzy: 10% chance to attack again [if you are still attacking, good! If you want to run away, bad...].

Mystical: 15% of life moved to mana
Blood-Etched: 15% of mana moved to life

of Tranquility/of Meditation: spell damage +15%/+30% when stationary for 1 second.

Drunken: random run/walk speed [I have one of these in Median].
Cursed/Hexed/Jinxed: +200%/+300%/+400% enhanced damage, 5% chance to hit self.

Absorbing: 5% chance to recharge 1 item charge on striking.

Magnetic: magical items slowly move towards you.

Seismic: 10% chance on attack to launch target away.
of Slaying: 10% chance to explode target.

of the Phalanx: +150% enhanced defense when near an ally or minion.

Warmage's: +100% enhanced damage for 2 seconds after casting a spell.
Spellblade's: +25% spell damage for 2 seconds after attacking.

of the Void: spell damage +25% when below half mana.

of Victory Rush: 50% faster run/walk after killing an enemy.

Just a few ideas, pre: stands for prefix, and suf: stands for suffix.

pre: Betting suf: of Risk - 15% chance on hit to increase critical hit chance by 20% on next attack. Increase critical damage by 10%
pre: Gambler's suf: of Wager - 30% chance on hit to increase critical hit chance by 25% on next attack. Increase critical damage by 15%
pre: Undertaker's suf: of burial - Slain monster rests in peace.
pre: Rapid suf: of Haste - increase attacks per second by 1
pre: Thief's suf: of Pillaging - 10-35% extra gold from monsters, 5-10% increased orb drop rate.
pre: Siphoning suf: of Manaburn - double spell damage and triple mana cost
pre: Sigilist suf: of Evoking - increase effect of socketed items by 15%, item spawns with 1-4 sockets.
pre: Basilisk's suf: of Petrify - 10% chance to turn enemies to stone for 1-3 seconds.
pre: Summoning suf: of Pactmaking - Use summons a lesser demon kind randomly chosen from a list for 40 seconds 10-20 charges*
pre: Sonic suf: of Shrieking - 1-5% chance to let our a sonic nova that damages and stuns enemies out to a 5 yard radius. undead are immune.
pre: Numbing suf: of Frostbite - 10-20 cold damage, slows enemies on hit by 33% for 6 seconds, 1% chance to freeze enemies for 2-6 seconds.
pre: Constricting suf: of Binding - X% chance to convert enemies to the players side for X seconds
pre: Holy suf: of Saints - 75% increased damage to undead, 1-5% chance to cause undead to flee on sight.**
pre: Enthralling suf: of Charm - 50% enhanced damage, 10% chance to cause monsters to focus on the player even if attacking another player.**




* After the 40 seconds is up the demon has a 50/50 chance of leaving or attacking it's summoner. 1 demon can be summoned per 10 character levels.
** Rolled once every second the monster is on the character's screen. Boss are immune.

So I haven't read through all 10 pages of this thread, so if I list anything that has already been listed, I apologize, and I am not trying to take your credit. I am just posting anything that came to my head while brainstorming. Some of my items will be kind of obvious or "not fresh" but I will list them anyway.

of the Bear: Knocks the target down to the ground (if possible, if not then just stocks them back and stuns them) and causes damage. % chance to bleed out losing life over time.

of the [Night] Owl: A good amount of increased Light Radius (more than +1 or +2 kind of thing, but a pretty good amount)

of the Incinerator: % chance to set the target on fire on each successful hit. Does little amount of damage per second. Maybe add a % modifier where if you miss your target, you catch yourself on fire?


of Haste: Large amount of increased % damage and attack speed. Rare modifier (come on, you know you guys want it back)

of Necromancy: lower % chance of healing a certain % of your health from the demons you kill. (Kind of like Paladin's redemption, but depends on the % and only on demons you kill. Just for us Necromancer lovers)

of Ferociousness?: high % chance to add a splash modifier to your attack. A larger radius. So if your attack is a direct attack, it adds a splash radius. Maybe of like kinetic energy or something? Like a sonic boom kind of thing? If your attack already has a splash radius, it gives it a greater distance. This might be more of a Rune type of thing rather than an item modifier but I threw it in there.

That's all I have for now.. I could probably think of more later... This was all on the spot.. I haven't like been working on these for months or anything... So if they sound like crap, they probably are :p

Awesome idea! It's similar to Set Items, but without all the problems usually associated with them. That is, by the time you usually have collected all the pieces to a set, the entire thing is obsolete. These modifiers, however, could be spread throughout the entire leveling process. Awesome!

I'm personally gunning for "Moist pants of humiliation."

A little earlier on in the post I saw the idea for living weapons. This could be very cool, especially if they weren't static. What if they evolved or got environmental bonuses? Maybe this could be also just another affix, but these types of weapons could have some sort of leveling system, so you could really get a weapon that was yours. For each 5 levels you use it constantly, you can chose to increase a certain aspect of it's attributes. Another way this could be incorporated would be weapons that have hidden attributes that are unlockable based on the length of use or the environment or the type of enemy that you're battling. And an extension to this idea - weapon specific quests?

Imagine your character, maybe level 20, finds a rusty sword that has some affixes that are nice but nothing special. However if you get on by long enough with this crappy sword, you will at some point run into a lonely merchant or a tome or a drunk somewhere who knows the history of the blade, and if you go to this shrine at this lake in this particular place and dip the blade in the water, it's true form will be revealed (In extension: the resulting weapon's affixes would be tuned to your character based on certain actions you take during the quest) This type of weapon I guess would be like a set item with more depth, I guess you could call it a legendary item. Now, the quest thing is optional, but an item that becomes more powerful over time would be wicked cool, especially if you could customize aspects of it.

i remember something called rot that limited the gear/skills u could use depending on the limb if effected. ur arms legs chest back neck and head could be effected amongst other things.
