Blaaaaa ladder reset

I had gotten my main character all set up with great MF gear, had a bunch of nice stuff saved up for my other chars, But I was getting burned out on it, all the transferring and monotony, ect. Then after taking a couple months break and being excited to come back and play again...
SURPRISE!
LADDER RESET!

Thanks for surprise ____ing me. Who the hell wants to play in non ladder? I mean, I knew it would reset eventually, but I was hoping for longer than 6 months. Did they say that ahead of time? Like when they reset it back in October or whenever? For a casual player who isn't devoting many hours to the game each day, that really screws me over. If only non-ladder could still make and find the nice goodies, it wouldn't bother me. Now all the time I invested earlier, is wasted. I have pretty much zero desire to play those non-ladder characters now.

Am I the only one who hates early ladder resets? I think they should be 9 months to a year, so everyone gets a chance to get in and make or trade for end game uniques, sets & rune word items without hacking or buying from a site. For a Power Gamer who's really MFing hard for hours every day, I guess 6 months is plenty and they're bored and want a new ladder to start out fresh. I really didn't see this coming.

No, a lot of us are kinda miffed about it. They had originally PUBLICLY DECIDED it was going to be 12 months long after everyone got mad at them last time. Though for whatever reason, they did a poll a few weeks ago on the bnet forums and all the botters and full-timers (40+ hours a week) over there voted for 6 months, so they just reset it immediately.

Fun times.

Its just another unsettling decision by Blizzard.

They did a poll, got results that they didn't like, so they apparently did another. I'm not sure about this, as this is all I've seen reported and I don't go near the cesspool of their forums.

9 months is a minimum for a person with a normal life to accomplish all he/she wants to accomplish. And no, 4 hours a day and/or botting is not normal.

This change has killed my enthusiasm for D2, which is a unfortunate. I can't make myself get up and running because I know it will just all end before I reach my halfway point. I want them to go back to a year between resets. But, as you say, crying about it is pointless.

I actually prefer non ladder. Items are cheaper (or free!) albeit you cant get some of them (which doesnt bother me at all since i'm a casual player as well ).

Also, if you also play classic, theres no difference between ladder and nl (except item price).

To be honest, if ladder werent so short, I'd be playing it as well.... But yeah, I try so that blizzard's decisions wont take my fun away.

I'm with Zarni - I pretty much quit playing. Was under the impression (from reading here) that we had a year - 9 months in the least! They then announced the reset a couple days before it was done. Expecting to have a few more months to play; I wasn't in any rush so had just began to gather keys to start the Uber process.

I'm sure I'll fire up my NL characters at some point and run a few torchs for fun; but I have so many decked out toons there now I need to start deleting accounts!

It still peeve's me that they even have "Ladder-Only" stuff; when I began playing - Ladder was a race to 99. With 6 MO resets I think they should open up the game and allow everything in NL too - I mean what's the point now?

The market was already flooded with items by the 6 month mark. The only items of any real value were super elite rares.

For most people the fun of the game is that fresh start feeling and trading their finds with other players. It's the whole point of ladder in the first place; a stale/overly inflated market kills the game for most.

I'd be fine with 9 month resets, but 12 months is too long. Won't matter soon anyway, with all these aRPG's coming out and Diablo 3 right around the corner.

There are positives to both sides of ladder resets. Resets can bring back players that got bored and left after finishing what they wanted to accomplish. For those that didn't finish it is definitely a bit aggravating. I agree that they should open up the entire game though and get rid of the ladder only stuff tho. I mean it has been 10 years almost since LoD first was available.

There is a difference in classic too. And i find it quite annoying -> NL has lots of prelod items that have godly mods, which can no longer spawn. So no matter how much u mf u cannot compete in duel games, if u don't have those prelod gear as u cannot get that kind of godly mods anymore. Like +2 barb -40 req execs for lvl 30, Sojs and all other uniques that dropped before lod do not have lvl req, Belts with dex, helms with 20 fhr, boots with both str and dex etc. The list is huge. The bottom line is = mfing and thus pvm is also rendered pointless in classic NL + pvp is pointless, unless u got pre lod gear.

If the same mods would be able to drop again in NL, i would play only NL.
