BFury: Melee or ranged?

Like the titles says, is blade fury a melee or ranged attack?

Why I wondering this is because I read poison is calculated differently for melee and ranged attacks.

And another thing, only 3/4 of the poison damage will hit using blade fury, but what is reduced? Damage/second, duration or both?

BF is Ranged.

As of 1.10, poison is calculated identically for both melee and ranged. Whatever you read is outdated.

Only the damage is reduced, duration will stay the same. (10 frames if you are using Venom)

That sucks for me, I had alot of high damage poison charms I was going play with.

Another question, now that blade fury is a ranged attack, can it pierce if enemies if I wear pierce items ? Like razortail.

BF can't pierce even if you have the mod on equipment, so no.
