    For each monster, the amount of experience you get is independent of whether or not you helped kill it.

    For total experience, if you help kill, the monsters should die sooner, and you should be able to kill more monsters in less time.

    For each monster, yes. Over time, no.

    why would u want to stand there anyways? why not help out and make the game go by a little bit faster? thats what pisses me off when im the only one killing in my baal runs, i tele to throne of destruction, clear, tp, and then do all the killing when they just sit and watch and leech xp. thats just 1 thing that gets to me, another is when i made 25 baal run games, giving every1 at least 20 lvls because they were all helpless 40s, and someone had the nerve to complain about how quick i was getting there and who made the games (me).

    first off, i was reaching there in under a minute, and second if u make game, ur running or teleporting to baal, thats just how i feel

    I predict another question about if that's a yes or a no :laugh:

    Answering further questions which haven't been asked make matters more complicated and thus harder to understand, although I admit that I do that from time to time as well. :azn:

    Yes.

    just restrict those who dont help you. Or, if you cant? dont invite them to your party, hostile them (most of them leave rather quick if you do that), or change game names.

    The amount of experience you receive is based on your level and the level of nearby, partied players. They higher your level is compared to the nearby players, the more experience you receive.

    I know to whitch question you refer. i was thinking about asking it but i dont see a point (seing how i already got an answer).

    I didnt mean that i just go in the tp and wait for exp to magiclly come to me by itself, i (most of the time) go in and kill as much and as many as i can. as to your prolem you can always make a few games with a pass without telling it to the ones you dont like and when they cant join undo it (remember to tell everyone else in your game that you made a pass and that you undid it) or you can just squelch those you dont like so you wont be able to hear them.
    as to the part of leaching exp id say you get something out of it as well (such as more plaiers in game = more exp from monsters).
    *heres a link to a previous question i had in witch you will find the full storry behind the "standing and getting exp" comment.

    I believe you get a small bonus for making the killing blow in a party.

    Of course killing stuff helps you get experience faster. Your added killing power makes the monsters die faster.

    You are incorrect.

    MonsterExp is set when the monster is spawned:
    MonsterExp = BaseMonsterExp * (.5 + .5*#OfPlayersInGame).
    The total amount of exp granted to a party when a monster is killed is set upon killing of the monster:
    PartyExp = MonsterExp * (.65 + .35*#OfNearbyPartiedPlayers)
    The PartyExp is then split among each nearby, partied player (PlayerShare) based on the relative clvls of the players:
    PlayerShare = PartyExp * clvl / (sum of all nearby partied players clvls)
    The PlayerShare is then modified multiplicatively based on the clvl/mlvl ratio, high clvl penalty, and +%EXP properties.

    There is no bonus for making the kill yourself. It's a battle.net rumor.

    *My .35 and .65 numbers are rounded. They are really like 89/256 and 167/256. The math is done as integer division withall properties are multipled by 256 until the last step where the 256 is divided out.

    I must add, your merc only gets exp when you or the merc himself kills a monster, not a party member.

    Yes, and only 1/3 if you make the kill instead of him.

    That i dodnt know. but i feel that i must make this matter clear, i am not talking about how fats it will be whether i am the one doing the killing or some one else. my question was about the amount of exp not the speed gaining it.

    Don't worry too much about merc levels. They level up just a short time after you and when they fall back too much (e.g. because you didn't resurrect them for a while), hire a new one, they will be just 1-4 levels below you.
