Best weapon 2 make CtA out of?

Whats the best type of weapon to make a Call to Arms out of? I will be using it on my pally for now so str/dex reqs dont bother me, but what type trades the best incase i decided to get rid of it? Also, I wonder y noone makes them out of good weapons and just uses them? :scratch: ... the runeword has some good stats to go alone with those warcries. Right now the only 5os single-hander i have is a phase blade... but i doubt a sorce would want to trade for a phase CtA. Thnx for help.

Alright lets see:

It gives +250-290% enhanced damage

For the cost of a Mal AND Ohm(ridiculously rare not including dupes) AND Ist this damage bonus is just laughable.

It gives 40% IAS

Compared to other weapon runewords this speed bonus is quite adequate.
The problem is that these are the only two damage dealing mods on this runeword. Runewords such as Eternity offer similar ED but it gives you crushing blow and can be ethereal+indestructible. Doom gives you deadly strike and a very helpful holy freeze aura as well as open wounds. The same trends go for runewords like hand of justice and chaos.

My point is that you can probably find a unique that will do more DAMAGE with similar speed (not talking about the warcries here) than this runeword which is obviously NOT its specialty. It is far more suited to put in a low req item such as crystal sword or flail and keep it on switch to beef up your life/mana with BO/BC.

people dont make them out of good weapons because there are better runewords for that. Make one out of a phase blade or flail and just use for BO because if you use that as your main weapon then your dmg will be weak

someone gave me a cta flail once... i thought it was meant to be a melee weapon and i gave it away cuz it was on a flail. i still regret it
