    Best Video Card for D2

I know that the Nvdia chipset isn't the best for D2.. even old video cards in mind - what would be the best for smoothest play? I read a while back it would be worth it to get a cheapy older Voodoo card and use it for best results. What has been your experience?

radeon 8500, 9000, or 9500/9600 is prolly the best, pro versions are better, and dont cost that much more.
I dont suggest nvidia cuz their image quality == bad.
radeon 9700/9800 is just overkill if u only play diablo 2

My friend has a integrated 4mb video card on his motherboard and he gets 60 fps, you REALLY don't need a good motherboard for this game :/

Isn't that an internal FPS?...wouldn't higher FPS give you more smooth gameplay? (but have no gamewise effect)

Yeah sure it will - but it's like the diminishing returns with magic find. For every frame per second you get over 25, you'll notice it less and less. And since the game only runs at 25 fps internal... not gonna make a big difference.

Its noticably in the manner of how smooth the graphics are, thats about it.

It's sweet when your FPS is higher than your monitor's refresh rate :)

A Voodoo3 card on a 1.9 p4, win xp os, 512 mb ram, 7200 rpm hd will give you very constant frame rates around 135 ±10. The lowest I've seen on my machine with the Voodoo card is 125 and that's during Shenks death. /fps shows what you're getting, and of course you really only see 25.

well also even if you have a good video card..you also need a good comp specs...you cant put a radeon 9600 on a p2 and expect 100+fps..it wont just work like that

I have a 3ghz P4, 768MB ram, 128MB 9800 Pro and I STILL go into single digits when Shenk dies.

But it runs fine with a room full of meteor, lightning, orb, etc. spamming sorcs.
