So guys what's the most beneficial role of this except mercs weapon?
I can think of zeal paladin, berserk barbarian (sick ), charge paladin, jab amazon, fury wolf druid, ww barb.
Edit: If you make BOTD in Great Poleaxe/Ghost Spear, you can hit the last WW breakpoint of the barb. Stylish character, I had one on Bnet years ago. Loved the look of the char, also people didn't know what I was using. It's the same with Fury Druid, only the ias on weapon counts with these skills.
I have good news and bad news.
Good news is, you can use such weapon on pretty much anything you care to build.
Bad news is, usage of such weapon is pretty much limited to novelty, even as a merc weapon. Only thing this weapon has as advantage is raw damage, and that's all unfortunately. Now I'll do some explaining and list some options for you to make, and why is this weapon not so great overall.
Merc weapon - it's ok, depending on what other options do you have. Generally there are 3 top weapons to use on act 2 mercs: Insight, Infinity and ethereal Reaper's Tool. Obviously Infinity is unbeatable when you need conviction. Reaper's offers higher damage output of merc because of great curse it provides, and it also increases damage output of physical damage character as much as it provides greater survivability. I think that even Insight provides higher damage output for merc than that BotD depending on critical strike roll (can go up to 50% which is huge). And there is that mana regen thing too. We can include merc IAS breakpoints into equation, but I still think this BotD is outclassed in damage output for merc with both Insight and ethereal Reaper's Tool.
Whirlwind barb - Obviously War Pike is bad base for BotD to use as WW weapon, it doesn't hit fastest breakpoint. You can still use it to great success cause of it's power alone, but damage output per second of whirling is nowhere near top, it's greatly outclassed by some weapons which do hit fastest breakpoint.
Berserker - well it can serve it's purpose. It's again weaker option than simple Phase Blade Grief cause it's considerably slower. But overall fine option for such usage I guess.
Zealer - good option if you have high enough level Fanaticism. You can hit 5/5.../11 breakpoint with it in the end. If you don't care about having shield, go for it.
Charger - again ok option, but outclassed by Death runeword which provides much more for your Charger.
For other stuff I won't say since I don't know much. I'd say you are much better with having block on Werewolf than going Rambo, but what do I know etc.
I would vote for Zealer myself.
What Gripphon said.
Best usage might be physical Spearzon (Jab/Fend), since BotD is one of the only top-notch RWs that works in spears.
Meleemancer and synergize the Poison Nova!
I'm vanilla hardcore btw so no ladder runewords like infi and insight.I was planing to use it on zealot but paladins are too reckless without shield as hardcore character. As for meleemancer I think it will never reach even half of the speed of my poison nova necro with dweb.
That piece of information is important and you should have mention it in the first post. That pretty much changes everything. Being HC means I'd say not using shield on any paladin is a big nono. Same is applied to meleemancer obviously. Berserker without shield is also out of question I'd say. So either some WW barb who could use this weapon, even without fastest breakpoint. And as merc weapon. I don't really see any other use for it, other than risky ones, and in HC you don't really want to risk.
HC is all about the risk. Make a melee sorc gogogo
There, I fixed it
If this is an item that already exists, I would say build a Fury Wolf around it.
If you have a Zod and are just looking for a good home for it, I would stick it in a Tomb Reaver and build a Fury Wolf around it.
Fury Wolves are fun. One of the few classes that doesn't need anything else besides a really big stick.
Tried mine a bit on the merc of a summon necro. That worked well. Only reason i didn't keep it there is because i was running Baal. Baalruns excluding Baal i'd prefer BotD. Including Baal i prefer infinity. Haven't timed it or done exact calculations, but it felt like Baal went down faster with the added CB from inifinity.
You should've put that in a champion axe.
HC I would think it's a fine stick for George and let him do it.
I concur. Botd warpike is best weapon for a mercmancer.
LL and ias on weapon also means you can use G-face ( cham ) on merc instead of Andariel's with fire resist ias jewel. Btw G-face also has 15% deadly strike.
Baal is the only exception because as you said CB and chance to hit ( increased by conviction aura ) are more important there.
Speaking of mercs
