Best sword for Concentrate barb?

Hi all,

I have a lvl 81 Concentrate barb with 20 in Sword Mastery (yes, I know. I probably should have gotten Axe Mastery). I'm using a Doombringer at the moment and I want to replace it with something better. I'm thinking of trading for a good Grandfather (worth about a Mal). I know a EBoTD would be better, but wealth is an issue here and I would sooner put BoTD in an axe anyway.

Are there any other good options for a sword, or should I stick to my trusty Doombringer?

And I have 33% Life Leech that would drop to 26 without Doombringer. I'm using Dracul's Grasp. Would that drop be an issue when using another sword (assuming it does more damage than Doombringer)?

Lastly, would it be a good idea to socket my sword? And with what?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide!

Ebotd for obvious reasons, but if your wealth is limited Gf is a good option, its dmg is good, has stats and is just a kool wep imo.

The ll drop wouldnt be much of an issue, 26 is still huge considering youve also got life tap as a back up for sticky situations.

You can Shael the Gf, faster atk speed is always good for Concen. Barbs.

Grandfather is actually pretty good for 1h use. Grief also, but it's rather more expensive :)

You can get a low grief PB for a Mal. Trust me. And it'll still blow 1h grandfather out of the water for damage.

actually you did right in maxing sword mastery.

Grief pb is the way to go for Conc barb.

remember that you need additional 15 ias to reach 9 fpa conc with grief pb

This is what i would use for conc barb.

Grief Pb
Arreat [ed/ias jewel] (ias for reaching 9 fpa)
Forty
Storm [ed/str]
Goreriders (uppgraded if you can get)
Verdugo (try to get with 15 dr)
Bloodfists
Angelic amu + angelic ring + raven (for cnbf)

Charms:

anni, tourch, Masteryskillers with life, sc's with life/def or life/ar

a few notes.
-conc barbs dont need any fhr at all since the conc attack is uninterruptable.
-remember to get enough dex for max block.
-when duelling other melee hold shift and lock conc on opponent. you cant beat smiters with conc, if you want to beat them put 1 point into wirlwind and ww away from them.

:badteeth:

Oaths arent expensive but finding the weps for it is rather annoying and time consuming.
If youve already got a eth 4soc balrog or w/e, sure make an oath, theyre very underrated.

Thank you for the indept answers, guys. Just a few more questions:

- Why Bloodfist and not Dracul's? I know you can't go wrong with extra life, but isn't life leech and the chance on Life Tap better (PvM-wise)?
- What about the Angelics? I see they have decent bonusses, but would that beat + life leech/all resist amulets (maybe the same reason as q#1)?
- By PB you mean a Phase Blade, right? Isn't that a poor base for a runeword, while you can choose a Colossal Sword or Colussus Blade?

using bloodfist can help you get there (i think it has 20%ias, not 100% sure)

yes, Pb is phase blade. people use phase blades, because they have an inherent indestructible mod on them

Base damage doesn't affect Grief's damage much at all. It adds 340-400 more damage, not by a %. PB's are incredible for Griefs.

bloodfists are sort of useless on a concbarb, the main stats on it are 10% ias and 30% fhr, conc cant get interrupted so thats useless, even with lowest roll on the grief (30 ias) you only need 15 more to reach 9fpa so just go with draculs, get the extra str and ll and use one ias jewel :)

Crescent moon is a cheap option as well, shael um tir, unless I remember all wrong. Works in swords and has a nice static field effect..
