I would have to say Spirit. Although my blizzard mf sorceress used a perfect diamond whistans guard because the strength requirement on a spirit monarch would be much to steep for me. By only goin with whistan's guard, I only have to put in 91 strength (Enough for coh wire fleece - 20 from annihilus) so experiment with Spirit if you choose, or try a whistans, they are both good.

We were all new once, don't worry about it. I just got back from a long 'break' from Diablo 2. Whistan's Guard is part of the Orphan Call set, and is one of my favorite shields. Insane Block and with a perfect Diamond, can give you resists. Also I love the strength requirement, allows me to get more life

If you have a CtA, then couple stat points will be worth it for the extra % fcr and +1 skill for a PvP blizzer. If you're PvM... meh go with Withstan's like Shako suggested.

Welcome back to the addicting world of D2!

There are a couple of shields worth mentioning. They all have upsides and downsides.

Max Block Shields:
Stormshield: good defense, good block, 35%DR, resists, need 156 Str.
Whistan's Guard: good defense, great block, with 2 PDiamond gives great resists, 53 Str.
Up'ed Viscerataunt: good defense, good block, +1 skills, 77 Str.

Don't max Block shields:
Spirit: +2 skills, up to 35% FCR, resists, 156 Str.
Lidless: +1 skills, 20% FCR, can up for better defense, 58 Str (106 up'ed).

If going for max block, I would recommend Whistan's since it gives you such a huge amount of resists. If not going for max block, go for a Spirit, the extra Str is balanced by +2 skills, 25-35% FCR, resists.

well i still haven't made up my mind between storm and spirit but either way, same strength so i at least know my stat point allocation there. i'll save stat points and try spirit and if i really think i need max block, i'll ditch it and use storm then use the points to get max block.

yeah, i gathered it would be an insane amount of dex to reach max block with spirit.... >300 i would expect so i won't waste points trying to achieve that.

Excuse me, but is it a shield for mfer? If you run Meph or Pindle, you don't need high blocking. Get yourself a Rhyme (!!) shield (Luna) or Isted shield if you are rich enough.
If it is for area running or Baal, then I don't give you any advice... (I have no experience...)

EDIT: and Whitstan's Guard cannot have 2 sockets, Moser's Blessed Circle has 2, and it's a very nice shield.

its a shield for a character that plays the game through from start to finish then after finishing act 5 hell, does some baal runs to level a little further and maybe some magic finding but not much and equipment won't be geared towards that. i have a barb for magic finding so it is not a priority with this blizzard sorc. her real purpose is just for fun and to get me a hell hellforge rune.

ok since i heard spirit was so effective...
imma try it out (lol it's cheap too :))

lol i hope i dun have to start another build after ****ing this one up

Hm, what would be better then: Mosers Blessed Circle or Whistans?
Whistans, unless you go for more offense and socket it Moser's with facets, in which case a viscerant would probably be better.

As said earlier, why not use the old and still useful Rhyme runeword? MF, Cannot be Frozen and Resist. Mmm nice :)
