best pvm babo gear setup?
I claim that, bar some specific builds, the following gear setup is probably the best for a pvm build:
Weapon & shield: whatever setup you prefer
Helm: guillaume's face
Armor: fortitude
Gloves: laying of hands, or ghoulhide for areas with lots of undead
Boots: gore rider
Amulet: highlord
Charms: attack rating stuff
Merc: act 2 might, with pride if you can afford it
The rest of the setup doesn't matter Use what you prefer. I'll now explain why I think this is probably the best setup.
Helm: crushing blow and deadly strike just blows arreat's away. Unless you're using some very specific stuff like last wish, the melee bonuses of gui's helm are unbeatable.
Armor, merc and merc weap: these are pretty obvious.
Amulet and boots: for the deadly strike and crushing blow. Without weapon bonuses, you get around 70-75% to deal double damage (critical strike from masteries included), and 50% chance for crushing blow. The only possible exception to the amulet would be atma's for non-ww builds, but even then highlord's is comparable.
Gloves: the added demon damage is better than any bonuses you might get from other gloves. It makes a very visible difference in the speed of demon-slaying, which most monsters are. Dracul's, even for a non-whirlwind build, has nothing to offer besides a life tap. Ok, dracul's might be good for whacking the ubers, but a life tap wand on weapon switch does the same very thing. Same reasoning for using ghoulhide in undead-rich areas, like for instance act 2 or chaos sanctuary.
Charms: the difference between 75% chance to hit or 90% is so huge that it takes an inventory full with top damage charms to get the same effect. AR charms are cheap and equally effective.
Well, that was it. Comment if you will.
