best place 4 rune runs

i'd like know, what is the best(s) places to make rune runs. I only know countness, but never find something better than DOL... =(

Runes up to Ist: Countess

Gul Rune: Hellforge

Higher than Gul: Good luck.

there is no such place

it is all random so u can get a HR anywhere in game.

Although cows are many, so mass-slaightering cows would yield the best results.

Still, never try to get a high rune, or you'll be dissapointed over and over again. It's too random. Just play normally and hope your luck won't dissapoint you

Isn't there something about lower kurast and river of flame super chests having better than normal drops? Or is that in single player only?

Since October 04, 2006... Dropped Ber x 2, Ohm, Vex ( Lucky! ='-'= )

Last Ladder (IV) I used to run Lower Kurast (Chests) during Baal experience runs >,.<
Never found a HR but dropped Mal & Pul a lot! Also, Arcane Sanctuary (Chests): Found many Hel~

Technically it's possible on BNet, I think, but SP has two advantages that are particularly noticeable for LK runs: static maps and the ability to start/join games quickly and not get banned. For example, ~150 LK runs per hour isn't unheard of in single-player (top-runners get ~180 runs per hour).

As for the odds, as far as has been researched/observed/guessed, there are only ~64000 drop variations from the superchests, 3 of those patterns contain high runes (Ber, Sur and Lo/Vex, depending on /players settings). If you figure 6 chests per map (i.e. ~900 chests popped per hour) you can farm certain runes with some luck and patience.

The other posters are indeed correct, it's basically a matter of dumb luck. Statistically, I have had my best luck from Hell Lower Kurast, but the odds are so low everywhere that it really doesn't make much of a difference except to the extent of how fast you can kill monsters. (Question: If you just kill Carvers in the Cold Plains again and again, I know you don't get any experience from anything past the first kill. But I'm wondering if they still drop things...? Does anybody know? If they did, it would be an interesting way of magic finding on autopilot...)

I think that the best approach is, before you start playing Diablo, cleanse your mind of the SLIGHTEST hope of finding a good rune. Say to yourself, "I'm just here to adventure, I don't care what drops". If you aren't looking for good things, they will drop. If you are, you'll get "Els" and "Elds" until you're blue in the face.

hmmm..regarding carvers..my bro just got one vex rune from a carver today when he was random killing them while doing countess runs lol

countess runs will get you ral runes...20 of them is a pul (in US West, i dont know about other realms) so yea you can get good runes..just keep getting puls. personally i prefer countess..she dropped a gul for me today lol

For HRs vex and above, its about the number of monsters you kill, rather than mf or any bosses in particular.

Act1 hell = max Lo
Act5 hell = max zod

I would farm nilhathak's temple for mass, tightly packed enemies. Its a prettty hard area though, most effective would be a well tooled up light sorc imo.

The area which will bring you the most runes is the area where your character can clear the fastest.
