With a skellymancer you want an Act2 Might merc. Boosts skelly damage nicely. The skellies won't need the protection offered by the holy freeze. An act1 merc won't be doing enough damage compared to the boost your skellies get from might.

In addition, holy freeze isn't such a great thing because it's slowing down the monsters while they are trying to get to your skellies to be killed. Also, slow monsters need more time to get into the CE area, so you'd need more carpetbombing instead of a surgical nuke strike.

Always remember: if the monsters want to come to you, let them. Saves time, since you don't have to chase them...

Your army is primarily melee-style; holy freeze is better suited for ranged attackers that don't really want to see the zits on the monster's faces. Your skelly warriors aren't like that; they just love to rip the monsters apart.

imo HF are affective in quite a number of ways because the less the mobs can move the less damage they can inflict (or do anything like spellcasting, swinging etc). Dun worry about your warriors they generally swarm round them anyway. So if they dun move all the better for your warriors to tear apart.

The ideal setup imo for a merc for overlord/skelemancer would be a might merc with something like a DOOM runeword polearm that would also give HF. Couple Doom, with decrep and Clay golum and bosses/mobs alike would have a hard time doing anything other than get swarmed and taken apart piece by piece.

I wouldn't worry about CE because with MAX 20 points (if your going for Nf's skelemancer) the corpse just needs to be near or in the general direction and the radius should catch just about anything on screen away from cast point. Personally never wanted or needed to use CE against bosses but that just my style of play.

I have a level 85 SP Skelemancer. I use a Blessed Aim merc and am having no problems. The skellies may not kill as fast since no Might merc, but their AR is a little lacking and this means more hits over time. Good Luck and hope you choose a merc that satisfies you.

MIGHT IS DEFENITLY THE BEST MERC, HOW COULD YOU EVEN ASK??? (jk)
anyways, I think holy freeze might also work, comon, think about it, with holy freeze, you can freely cast amp instead of decrepify on monsters. Which would make pretty good damage. But overall a high lvl might defenilty beats it.
