Best items for Lightning Absorb?

Whats the best "set-up" for massive lightning absorb, I want to play with Uber Mephisto. Any gear help will be needed and explanations cus I'm confused about the Light Absorb % vs Light Absorb integers.
For example, my zmiter can use both a Stormlash (7 lightning absorb) or a lightsabre (25%). :scratchchin:

Light absorb is capped at 40% but the light absorb in integers are not capped.
I will need to look for a thread about resist and absorb etc for detailed explanation though.

Re: Best items for Lightning Absorb?

Stormlash would own it. Absorb reduces the damage that's left after resists are taken into account. If you have 95% lightning resist, only 5% will come through. If you then have 40% lightning absorb, it would negate 40% of that, meaning only negating 2% of the total attack, making you take 3% damage instead of 5%. If you survive that, THEN comes the healing. If you die before the heal, it won't save you.

integer absorb on the other hand, would negate "x" amount from the 5% that's left. Even if the attack deals 500 damage, thanks to the resists only 25 will come through. If you then wear for example thundergods vigor, you will have 20 lightning absorb, so 20 of that 25 will be negated, leaving 5 damage. if you then survive that 5 damage, you will be healed by 20, making you get healed by the attack.

If you have thundergods vigor, phoenix runeword, and a "Lo" blackthorns face, together with stormlash, you'll get 95% lightning resist and 47 lightning absorb (I'd say you'll become a lightning immune, since you'd need to get hit by more than 940 lightning damage to get damaged before the heal, and 1880 lightning damage after the heal)

You'll also get 85% fire resist and 15-21 fire absorb. Wear hellmouth war gauntlets, and waterwalks/infernostrides together with 1 (in case of waterwalks) or 0 (in case of strides) vex runes in your armor, and you're a fire immune too.

So this setup makes you fire and lightning immune:

Weapon: Stormlash/djinn slayer
Shield: Phoenix
Helm: Blackthorns face "Lo"
Belt: Thundergods vigor
Gloves: Hellmouth
Boots: Waterwalks (in that case a vex in armor) or infernostrides

If you want to become cold immune you could do this too:

Helm: Blackthorns face "lo"
Weapon: Something with fire sorb, or else a stormlash
Shield: Pelta lunata (or maybe spirit ward if it's perfect) with a vex inside
Belt: Thundergods
Boots: Hotspur
Armor: 4 socket armor full of ohms

That would kinda make you keep your lightning immunity, and get 95% cold resist with crazy amounts of sorb on the pelta, but the only fire sorb you'll get is from hellmouth, unless you've found something usable with integer fire sorb (I haven't). There's that helm, but it gives too little fire sorb to be able to beat blackthorn. There's probably some other items with fire sorb, but I don't want to look for them now.

Poison immunity is kinda impossible (best you can get is 95% resist and 75% length reduction). Physical immunity requires waaay too many equipment spots.

Lightsabre, Thundergod's, Wisp Projector, max light res. Or something like it.

Oh wait, I completely forgot the rising sun, lol. That's some crazy fire sorb. Even allows you to unequip hellmouth. New elemental immune setup:

Helm: Blackthorns face "Lo"
Weapon: Stormlash
Shield: Pelta lunata "vex"
Belt: Thundergods vigor
Boots: Hotspur
Amulet: The rising sun
Armor: 4 ohm armor

Edit: Oh right, forgot this setup will only have 90% lightning resist. Hmm... If you exchange an ohm for a Lo, you could have 95% light res and 90% cold res, or if you took away the vex and replaced it with a Lo you could have 95% in cold and light, but 90% fire.

Basically, you have to have 90% in one of the 3 elements... The only solution I think is getting max res on the weapon, like a rune master. A runemaster with shaels and bers would do quite well.

Edit: And then of course I forget the guardian angel. Now, the ultimate triple-immune setup:

Helm: Blackthorns face
Shield: Pelta lunata "Ohm"
Armor: Guardian angel (if you don't want to use venom grip, a gul in here)
Weapon: Stormlash
Amulet: The rising sun
Belt: Thundergods vigor
Boots: Waterwalks
Ring: Rare ring with remedy affix (poison length reduced by 25%)
Gloves: Unless you have a gul in the helm/armor, venom grip. If you want even more fire protection, hellmouth. If you want dracs, then dracs

This gives you 95% all resists, 47 lightning absorb (or 49 with perfect stormlash), ~60-70 fire sorb, ~40-50 cold absorb and 25% poison length reduction.

Immune to 3 elements, and highly resistant to the 4th. Problem is actually hitting those high max resists. Only solution I have is fade prebuff and filling your inventory with shimmering small charms.

Well, I didn't really design that for ubers, but I could see it be done, since stormlash isn't a bad weapon. And those elemental attacks won't do you much harm. Too there was almost no space for damage reduction% (ber in blackthorns and g-angel works though). Invincible against elemental attacks, but not against physical.

Re: Best items for Lightning Absorb?

Just to correct something. 40% absorb actually negates 80% of the damage.
So if you have 95% resist, and 40% absorb, you'll take 1% of the damage.

For remaining damage, if you have +absorb, it works in a similar way. If you take 25 light dmg and have +20 absorb, you're going to gain 15 life instead of taking damage. Only 40+ light dmg would still hurt you at that point (not 25).

I guess thats why some realms don't like absorb in PvP. Curious about the set-up, it has no room for dwarf stars?
