Raymond Herrera from Fear Factory. Listen to the intro of Slave Labor or Demanufacture to hear why.

    Neil Peart wins.....

Although I like faster metal type drumming, this guy just blew me away on the DVD Rush in Rio.

Yes, although Neil Peart is a close second.

There are many other excellent drummers of course, but IMO none come close to those two.

I tend to listen to the drums a lot when I listen to music, sometimes even more so than I listen to the guitar. Guitar riffs can get old, but interesting, complex drumming never ceases to amaze me.

As mentioned Ian Paice (Deep Purple) is excellent.

Max Weinburg (E Street Band) is awesome.

John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Keith Moon (The Who) also are at the top of the list.

You have pretty fine taste there, Amra. Those were the two names I was going to add.

Runner up: Peter "James" Bond of Spinal Tap - he was so awesome he spontaneously combusted on stage.

Travis Barker is amazing, why he is in still in such a suck ass band is beyond me.

His solo shows are pretty damn amazing.

Agree that he is amazing, though the band does not suck.
His solos are cruel, and he also manages to look insane when playing

I agree with the Tool and Zepplin statements.

What do you guys think about Lars? Excluding St.Anger, and some of their newer work, his drumming skills always impressed me.

Not necessarily in order, but some of my favorite drummers:

    Bill Bruford - Yes
    Charlie Watts - Rolling Stones
    Keith Moon - The Who
    Bun Carlos - Cheap Trick
    Neil Peart - Rush
    Ginger Baker - Cream

You can't tell I am a classic rocker at heart! :p
