Best armor for might merc with Pride?

I have a bowazon (strafe/multi) with GMB Faith at 7/2 fpa all the normal gear forti, cats, travs, etc.

Currently my merc is wearing Najs armor for the +1 skills (and life/res) primarily to increase his might lvl and thus my dmg. btw his helm is andy's with ias jewel.

I have been thinking about a CoH (+2 skills etc), but with the low def and high cost compared to, say, forti im not sure if it is worth it.

The problem with forti is that since pride has no ed he is not doing much dmg (2.5k avr) with all 3 auras so the 300%ed wont really do much since im doing all the killing anyway...

I have just cube bugged a nice eth Balrog Skin and got 4os and 1126 def so i have a nice armor for either rw...or if you have other ideas please post em

Without the 300%ed fortitude is still a nice armor for a merc. Nice resist, high defense, the frozenarmor when struck, high life, and +max lightning res. But will it be worth it indeed. I think yes. Just because he will gain those bonuses i alredy mentioned + more damage

I'd have to agree with all these recommendations. In the end it won't make much difference. Fortitude also has Deadly Strike. But CoH also has extra Life Stolen. Remember that the Damage to Demons and Damage to Undead are almost on par with the flat 300ED, since most of the monsters in the whole game are Demons, and almost all of them are Demons or Undead. There are very few "Animals" in the game.

fortitude's deadly strike is only applicable when put in a weapon.. =)
Thanks. Was about to make that correction. In any case, they will both serve well for a merc. I've use both on mercs and there's not that much difference in performance that I've noticed.

Suprisingly I did notice that shaftstop really wasn't the choice for survivability. I would have thought so with the DR but I suppose resistances and better life leech outweighs it.

get ethereal, upgraded shaftstop "UM"

fortitude is usless because pride doesn't have enhanced damage, thusly the overall damage is really poor

as for helmet, it's a toss up between VampGAZE and Andariel Visage.
i prefer andariels, but with gaze(and shaft) you can have 50% dr on merc which is pretty awesome

well i chose to go for Forti... it gives him 1k extra dmg which means more leech thus more survivability. When comparing with Stone, Forti pretty much wins in all aspects...with the chilling armor its give much more defense than Stone (he has >11K def compared to around 6k he would have with stone)

Eth upped Shaft might be up there but i still think fort is better with the def, res, life, dmg....and good ed eth shaft would cost more than Forti anyway ;)

But thanks for the suggestions people :)

What about ETH treachery armor? Does not the skill fade have a hidden bonus of damage reduction?
Eth "Treachery" works out real nice. 15% PDR and +60% all resists from the Fade, not to mention 45% IAS for the merc. Makes him poke much faster and is even better when you need to get the Merc to trigger special effects like CB or Static.

no doubt treachery is very nice for the price....it's just not really a merc armor i think. As mercs get res pr lvl it means that he only needs [email protected] in lvl 85 so he has no need for the 60%. That leaves 15%dr and 45%ias which is nice too, but i dont think it comes close to the dmg, life and defense boost that forti gives. also fade has to trigger in every game before it works while forts bonuses are always there (exept chilling armor ofc)

Merc does physical damage.

So do you.

Therefore, he can't kill anything that you couldn't kill.

I wouldn't worry about his damage. Worry about keeping him alive.

I'd give him a nice eth fort or a eth upped shaftstop socked with um.
