    Best Armor for a Zealot?

Im sure this has been done to death, but Im curious, I have a lvl ** Zealot with an Enigma Archon Plate and I keep hearing people talking about damage reduction and such. I see that the Shaftstop is got like 30% damage reduction on it, so my question is...Is this a better armor for a Zealot than an Enigma? Ive got like 100 hours invested in putting together that frigging Enigma, and Ive never seen a Shaftstop, so should I start looking?

    Thanks.

Well the DR cap is 50%, and a Gaze+SS would amply cover that, or a SS+String, SS+Crown of Ages, etc. I see no reason to use Shaftstop unless you don't use a SS.

SS? Sorry Im really new. Ive just been using Crown of Thieves upgraded to Elite. So I guess I should be looking for a new Helm. Well another 1000 pit runs here I come. Thanks.

My pala is using herald, enigma boneweave, laying of hands, gaze, gore riders, and maras. He survives hell quite nicely. Max Dr really isnt needed, I think, since mine is at 32. I find a higher armor class, and dex with holy shield saves me more often than higher dr does. This leaves me the chance to get more resists. Which is the major killer in hell. (It's just my opinion though.) my sole problem now is that #@#@ IM curse. I have a buriza available, but I plan to get a rare throwing axe and another shield to take them out.

SS is a stormshield. But yes I think either Enigma or CoH beats Shaftstop.

Cool, Ill stick with the Enigma, I really dont have any problems in Hell, except for those death gloams in the WSC, and IM of course, I was just thinking of ways to improve. Thanks for the replies.

Engima is the best PvP armour, but PvM Guardian Angel, Shaftstop (both upgraded) are among the best. One deals with elemental damage, the other with physcial damage. UM/shimmering jewel is the best socket here.

CoH is probably the best overall, but I think I'll rather use the Ber rune for Enigma.

I realy do not like chains of honor. I do like engima but only if i need to do some kind of running aways thing, and if you are a pure zealot then you are doing some thing wrong with that. Stone is realy good. But my fav of all armors is up graded shaftstop. because of 3 defent resons: 1. if up graded right it will have 1500 def 2. I can do 75% resist all in hell with 50% dr. 3. for 158 str needed I do not have to spend like 232 str to use a stone scared armor with a base def of over 600. OO ya it looks cool too.

I say at least 25% DR on a zealot. Mine has 30%, max block and a bit over 14000 defence and still i take dmg.
Enigma is nice and CoH is too, but for us "poor" people i'd recommend Stone or Shaftstop.

But since you already have one, stick to it, it's a great armour.

I just got Coh last night and i use perf gaze/verdungoes 11 dr and coh so it comes out to about 40 dr which is plenty. Enigma is ok for melee pallys but i would take Coh over it unless you use teleport on the enigma alot.

    GLOOM
15% Chance To Cast Level 3 Dim Vision When Struck
    +10% Faster Hit Recovery
    +200-260% Enhanced Defense (varies)
    +10 To Strength
    All Resistances +45
    Half Freeze Duration
5% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
    -3 To Light Radius

    STONE
    +60% Faster Hit Recovery
    +250-290% Enhanced Defense (varies)
    +300 Defense Vs. Missile
    +16 To Strength
    +16 To Vitality
    +10 To Energy
    All Resistances +15
Level 16 Molten Boulder (80 Charges)
Level 16 Clay Golem (16 Charges)

Ok, thread hijack, but I think the comparison is 50% FHR, 40% average more def, +6 STR/ +16 VIT/ +10 EN and a 1.7k hp tank that slows but costs super $$ per charge, against 15% proc Dim Vision & 30 % resist all. In PvP Dim Vision has no effect at all so Stone wins the comparison, but in PvM? Seems more of a toss up there.

(BTW the other mods dun seem really significant to me)

I wouldn´t call a Clay golem without golem masteries nor summon resist a tank IMHO, then there is the small difference in cost, and then you just have to see that 15% dim vision in action in the worldstone against gloams and the like... i think that they are even all in all... also the 50%FHR difference can be next to nothing if it doesn´t let you achieve another breakpoint... btw i would definately use the Gloom over the Stone in about every other char, because the 30% resist all may not mean a lot to a pally witht he natural extra resist all of class specific shields, but for the rest of the chars it is a lot more helpfull....

Ohh btw dmg taken goes to mana ensures you a nice ammount of mana even with 0 mana leech...
