Berserk vs. Whirlwind

Re: Berserk vs. Whirlwind

I have a level ** PVP WW barb and a level 90 PVP Bezerk barb.

WW is better, but Bezerk is more fun. Talking from a PVP perspective.

The "WTF", "OMG" and "how so much damage" etc you get when you reduce a BVC's life by half with one hit with Bezerk is priceless. Smiters, well those with life tap which is erm....99.9% of them, kick your *** unless you one hit them. Tele-zerk is a pain in the *** to master (for me anyway, I keep trying to tri whirl!) but when you do hit they usually drop in one.

I prefer Bezerk for Pvm. The unresistible magic damage and no im worries + all the amazing crowd control you get from syngeries is what does it for me. I'd say Bezerk requires more finesse to play. Perhaps that's why it's not as popular.

WW does seem better for most duels pvp.

It's apples and oranges I wouldn't say one is per say better then other. Just another fruit to enjoy in all its goodness.

My Bezerker gets his bo from my other (wolf) barb so I really like my skill setup.

20 bezerk
20 howl
20 shout
20 leap attack
few in wep mastry, 1 pointers.

the leap attack does nearly as much phy damage as my synergised bezerk. Great on hotkey when I need to jump over that fallen back to get the shaman or when I need to leach some life/mana.

I'd actually say exactly the opposite as Master Zap, I'd say that WW is better for PvM due to the superior crowd control, while berserk is better for PvP for the aforementioned irresistable magic damage (except magic damage reduced by X). I don't quite understand how Master Zap says that Berserk has great crowd control when it's a one at a time attack.

However, for PvM ALL Barbs should get a point in Berserk to deal with iron maiden casting enemies and physical immunes. For me though, one is usually enough, and I leave it as a one point wonder. The only exception is for conc barbs. Then I'll spend the last few skill points in berserk once he get in the upper 80s in level.

Berserk Receives Bonuses From
Howl: +10% Magic Damage Per Level

Effect: Frightens monsters into retreating.
Yes, howl is great for crowd control - I always get a point in it, and with two echoing weapons on switch it works great. But howl can be used independent of berserk. Howl is a great crowd control skill regardless of your other skill choices, and while it makes berserk do more damage, it doesn't make berserk a better crowd control skill - it's still a one-at-a-time attack.

Bezerk is more of a "fun" build, it maxes out a 9 frames and misses a lot of the time, you get beaten by any decent duellers, it fun to kill 8k life barbs in 3 hits but not really a competitive build.
