bergkamp another year ? opinions ?

hi i wanted to know ur opinions about dennis bergkamp(arsenal) who signed another more year. U think he can do it one more year, or that he should have just retired. I know he is also kept because he can guide the youngsters, but aside from that just on the soccer level, his play.

He's getting older and older. He doesnt have that speed he could show before, but is still dangerous with the ball.
However, I think they should be better off using youngsters. They aren't really a poor club, that has to think over every signing 10times. If demanded, they could just buy someone new, but I think they have a bunch of players that would do... :p

Bergy isn't used to his deadliest potential, playing behind the frontmen - between midfield and strikers. I mean just compare his performance against Everton and his performance as lone forward againt Man U in the cup final.

Dunno what Wenger was thinking!

But yeah, youngsters will benefit from his experience and who better to provide cover for injured/rested forwards. Bergy has been one of the best, if not THE best techinical player in the premiership for many seasons, he's a class act. Though he may have lost a yard or three of pace, you don't need to be speedy gonzalez to provide a defence splitter ;)

    Good Move.

Even at his age he is extremely dangerous and is one of the better technical players in the world. Watch the demolition of Everton for examples :)

    Philosophy of big clubs:

    1.Sign a new player
    2. Print his name on merchandise, and half his signing fee is paid off.
    3. Design new merchandise
    4. Win a big title (they just won a pretty nice one, so put a check next to this one)

Besides, stadiums last longer than players.

not only is he talented still, without his youth, but he's part of the chemistry that's allowing arsenal to perform so well

Good for the club, nice for the fans, great for the young players in the team.

So, yeah: keep him for one more year.

Then, he can retire in peace; knowing he's done well for his club....

One of the best players in the PL in the last decade.

    David.

He's still a force to be reckoned with! He could do another couple of seasons if the club allowed him too. And Chyn's right (gogo 2K :) ), if you saw the game against Everton you wouldn't need to ask the question...

They haven't got alot of money. They're building a new stadium and most cash is going into that. They've alot got an excellant youth squad, they cleaned up in the league cup (obviously until ManU beat them).
