    Baseball Playoff Predictions?

The postseason starts soon and I'm just wondering who you guys think will turn out to the be the world series champs. We don't officially know which teams are in yet (at least in the NL), but its never too early for predictions. My prediction is that the Twins beat the Mets 4-2. With the best left handed pitcher in the planet , one of the best bullpen in the majors, an offense led by Mauer and Morneau, and momentum, I dont think any team can stop them. My sleeper pick would probably be the Houston Astros. They're only a game and a half behind the cardinals and in their usual late season push.

    How 'bout them Astros!

Their late season run has been thrilling, but I fear it'll fall short. I'm still pulling for them, though.

I agree with your Twins/Mets faceoff, too. If I were to like an AL team, it would be the Twins. They're a very talented, very classy group of players.

I love my Twins, but the Yankees are their postseason kryptonite, for whatever reason. If they get past them though, they could go all the way.

If the Twins still have Liriano, I'd call them the hands-down favorites. Without him though, you have to rely on Radke, Silva, Bonser, etc as your other starting pitching, and that's dicey.

Baseball Playoff discussion without my Red Sox makes me want to cry.

I dont think this is the Yankees year, they're a solid team, but I think they lack something of a team dynamic this year... a lot of their team was out and hurt for different stretches, speculation around Arod, not to mention his slumping as of late, their pitching will either prove to be simply too old, or veteran enough to come up big in November. All in all, they have a shot, but I dont think its their year (and I'm hoping its not).

I dont see Oakland going far, first half Tigers would have been a money team, but they havent been playing nearly as well 2nd half, and I dont see them as an experienced enough team to go too far in the post season.

Mets have a shot, but the NL as a whole seems a bit weaker, I wouldnt be surprised to see the Phillies pull out the wild card in the NL though.

I think its going to be either Phillies or Mets for the NL against Twins or Yankees AL, and my money is on Twins for the Title.

To remove any chance of it ever happening I'm picking the Tigers. There that should now open the door for any team but the Tigers

Good pitching has always been the yankees kryptonite. They lack it and they lose to teams who have it. I dont think much has changed these past few years. As long as they dont have great pitching, it doesn't matter who they buy on offense. As for the Twins vs. the Yankees, if Johan Santana pitches 3 games in a 7 game series, I think they have a REALLY good shot. You can almost pencil that as 3 wins. If not three, then two.

apparently that is the series least wanted by the covering network, something to do with the ratings when these 2 teams meet.

I think with what the Twins have overcome this season, they could definetly go far on sheer will alone. Plus the fact that their offense has been finally working, and their pitching rotation has definetly been improving (even with the loss of Liriano). Yes, I do live in Minnesota, hence the bias.

Yeah, I can imagine that on the national level there wont be all that many people excited to watch two teams from the same city play in the World Series.
