Base Strength?

Hello Everyone

I was thinking about trading my CB ebotd and other stuff for low Enigma Mage Plate and a low ed ebotd zerker so I can go base strength, thus increasing my hp and giving me a chance with tele casters.

However, the thing that makes me reluctant is the inflexibility it gives with the choice of armors and the greatly reduced defense from my current armor.

At the moment, my barb's stats are:
6k hp with prebuff
22k Def
1.3-3.8 1H Dmg
16k AR/ 23k with Enchant

Arreat's Face /40 ed Jewel
Duress Balrog Skin
SS /38ed+6 Dex Jewel
Upped Gores
Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Dracul's Grasp
400 ebotd CB
Angelic's Ammy
Angelic's Rings
20/14 anni
39 life scs 4-5 with Fine mod

I estimate that going base str would add about 1k health but is it worth the reduced defense and OW.
Also, would i be able to BvB effectively?

30 (base) + 20 (anni) + 15 (draculs) + 67 (enigma @ lvl90) + 20 (arreat) + 30 (botd) = 182.....k.....guess u got enough, nvm then

imo not good enough for bvb, you'll need more def

I have just rebuild my barb,i deleted my sword lvl94 barb and made a berzerker one.I can tell u that this barb at lvl 89 is already much, i repeat much better then the previous.
The req of the cb is high, and the 1handed dmg is lower.
Now i do around 6k dmg ,before i was doing only 5.3.
I got 5.8k life, before i had 5.4(no prebuf with skilers, bo helm, amus,...)

And i have base strent 84, so with my anni i can wear the ba, and with that i can wear all the equipment.(of course i have socketed wc weapons with fal runes)

So basically i think it is not a weist to put this50 points in strent so u can easily equipe all the equipment with a modest life lost of 50*4=200*2.2(lvl 32 or 33 i cant rememberbo)=440 life.

But well if u think this 440hp makes a big difference then kep the enigma and large amount of hp :xdrunk:

I usually run with 71-81 base strength, depending on what I'm going to be wearing. Using 71, you can put on Dracs to go to 86, then annihilus will take you to 106. The BotD berserker will take that up to 136, arreat's will take it to 156 (the strength requirement for storm), and then storm will give you another 30. With that you could wear your current armor without problems. You can go a lot lower if you use FalFal echoers on the switch and likewise if you have enigma.

You should also think about getting an archon duress. No speed penalty, no stamina penalty, low strength requirements, and it can get more defense than your balrog skin to boot.

yah archon seemes to be the best type of armor among all elites.. It seems unfair though. I just dont lik the fact that all elite armors have about the same defense. A dusk shroud could have higher defense than kraken shell :O, that just seemes unrealistic.

@hal: how much str should I have if I use grief instead of botd? thx

I was thinking of socketing my SS with a 30ed/-15 req jewel to bring the str req down to 133. Would that help in any way or should i just stick to my current jewel (38ed/6dex)?

It would help more to socket an upped or even normal areats with that jewel,, as hal said u have enoug strent for storm aniway

I wouldn't want to clear that 38/6 jewel anyways, since it's a pretty great little item. If you wanted to use the 30/15, I'd either get another stormshield to stick it in or a quality upp'd arreat's like Com mentioned.
