    Base smite damage of shields

I have a 3sox [email protected] normal paladin shield. I was wondering how much damage i would be missing out on if i use this instead of an elite shield. The crown shield (that is what i have) is listed with smite damage of 4 to 12 while the elite version vortex shield is 5 - 87.

    Basically my question is this:
How much smite damage would a paladin with max holy shield and a sanctuary crown shield do compared to a pala with max holy shield and sanct vortex shield? other gear would be fortitude. and i would also use max fanaticism.

    Help would be greatly appreciated:thumbsup:

If you are using a Grief the damage from shield won't make a noticable difference, but even if your not for ubers its ok as long as you have CB and OW to do the damage. Smite damage seems to be more effected by +skills rather than ed% or strength or any other factor, excluding the bounus +damage from grief that is.
