Barbarian Berserk Skill

Hi,

For fun I'm thinking about trying a BerserkBard build and I just wanted to check a few things before I tried.

1) Does Berserk take into account the ED% from the equipment, mastery etc?

For example if I was doing 1000 damage with a normal attack (taking into account all my ED% and strength), would I being doing 1000 * 435% damage with lvl 20 Berserk (obviously not taking into account monster resists etc)?

2) I assume Magical Damage means only monster immune to magic will take no damage (i.e. Immunes to physical, fire, lightning, cold and poison will be hurt)?

3) I assume lower resist/conviction aura will increase the damage done?

4) I assume items with -% to lightning/fire/etc resist won't have any effect on damage done?

5) I assume the duration listed is how long I'll have 0 defense for?

6) Do mods like prevent monster heal and crushing blow still work?

Thanks,
Chris

1) I'm not sure about the off-weapon ED% (Fort, ed jewels in other than weapon slots etc.), but I think Masteries do add damage bonus.

2) Yes.

3) No.

4) Yes, no effect. Berserk is pure magical damage.

5) Yes.

6) I think so, but let someone else confirm this.

Yes

Nope, that only increases elemental damages, cold, fire, lightning and poison
4) I assume items with -% to lightning/fire/etc resist won't have any effect on damage done? [/URL]
Correct

Correct

Yup, my PVP bezerker used to have about 70% deadly strike (double damage) hitting double damage with a 9k bezerk hurts people, a lot.

Damage auras will increase damage, but not curses, since curses lower physical resistance, not magic.

Righty o, thanks.

What weapon would you recommend specialising in? I was thinking maybe Polearms as there are a lot of cool new Runewords for them.

However Swords appear to have similar requirements and damage but are faster. They also have the added bonus of being able to use a shield if I decide to later. Some Polearms have a greater range but I'm assuming that doesn't really make much difference?

Damage works like this baseDamage*(str_bonus+ed%+skill_bonus). The ed from berserk does not stack on top of the str bonus, it stacks with it.

It really depends a lot on what you want to do with it. If you intend to use whirlwind a lot, I'd recommend a polearm. There are several unique polearms that are good for barbs, and the runeworsd are very nice. For Frenzy, I'd recommend swords. Look in the Barb forum and find a build that looks interesting and see what weapons it recommends. I think the next barb I'll make will be a polearm whirlwinder with a crescent moon thresher.

EDIT: Range makes a huge difference if you're going to use whirlwind.
