Barb Mastery + Crit from Peace: How do the %CS add?

    Hey,

just wondering how the CS from mastery and the CS from critical hit would add if I used Peace on my MLD barb.
IIrc DS and CS were just added to gain the chance for double damage, but I think Critical Hit and CS from Masteries are both CS and not DS.
    So, how do they add?

    Thanks, Moe

    You've got it backwards.

Two different sources of CS will simply add chances together because they are the same mod.

CS and DS get check separately because they are different mods, so they do not simply add chances together. It's a 50% check for one, then 50% of the remaining 50% check for the other, i.e. 50% + 50%/2 = 75%.

Not 100% on this but it should work like this:

CS: 1 check (add all the crit strike bonuses to get the value)
DS: 1 check (add all the deadly strike bonuses to get the value)

If both checks succeed (successful CS + successful DS) apply (only) double damage -> you can never do triple or quadruple damage

So to calculate your chance for double damage:

    total CS% + ((1 - total CS%) * total DS%)

so if i have e.g. 23% crit from mastery and 47% crit from critical hit this will end up with a 70% chance for double dmg?

    No. It would be:

    [0,23 * (1-0,47)]+0,47 = 0,59

    edit:

    Or as the formula above:

    0,47 + ((1-0,47)*0,23) = 0,59 or a total of 59% of double damage.

No. He's not talking about Critical and Deadly, he's talking about two sources of Critical. 70% is correct.
