They still monitor this game? Do they still care about it enough to ban people?
Yes. They do bann people. But i doubt it was done manually.
The server will ban Cd-key and freeze accounts if users were detected of using 3rd party programs.
I know they still do ban people on occasion, but it's been a while since the last mass banning. I know a bunch of members on here love that because that means a bunch of the good character names get freed up.
They should create an online GM to ban all the bots/hackers/spammers who ever so run free in the game.
bots- Hell baal runs - mostly high level hammerdins
hackers- almost all pk games I joined had hackers (fc-ers, tmcpk etc etc)
spammers- plenty at trading channels
Nobody cares about this game anymore.
At least on Europe its full of baal bots.
Same thing here in USeast. I started play d2 after 5 years and the first month I stayed in Hell act3 only runnying mephisto untill I got some decent gears. When I finally reach Act5 for some baal run recently, to my surprise, nearly all the baal run games are created by bots...
I'm just curious, is there anyone who routinely PK those bots? It's just a good way to collect enough ears
Oh that actually sounds like FUN! I've never thought of that, killing bots, over and over! Just follow the bot from each of it's games, and never let it get the corpse.
There is a thread somewhere from people who did just that. They were more after the MFing bots not the Baal run bots but were fairly successful in getting money out of the bots.
I hostiled a baal bot once. They just leave immediately after saying something like "please do not go hostile". Followed by a bunch of leeches screaming "noob". It was pretty funny. I already killed nihly anyway so what did I care lol.
all that will really do is activate the hostile hammer bug if it hasn't ben patched yet. if the hammerdin leaves the game any hammers in the air immediately turn hostile, you won't hurt the bot at all but you might kill some innocent bystanders.
why the hell would you want to kill bots?
they don't seem to pick up good stuff when it drops.
duno if its me, but I would join games with only one bot and loot all the baal drops.
duno if its me, but the bots only pick up charms when baal dies.
last ladder i enjoyed the sport of bothunting. it was a challenge to get into the game, hostile JUST the bot and kill it at the WP.
and the joy of draining a bots gold so it can't res it's merc so it just stands in the one game for hours and hours.
unfortunatly most of the squillions of bots on West will chicken out of the game as soon as you hostile em. which isn't very sporting.
thats stupid when could've leech them off items from baal and minions.
who cares about gold LOL.
I leeched off a couple of goodies like Griffon and many other uniques from Baal. The bot just stands there like a retard
These were very different bots to the ones that run baal games presently, but killing them was hella fun, and remarkably profitable! In fact it became so common you'd often have people in the game competing to kill the bot first! The baal bots that are around currently seem to merely quit when hostiled. About the only reason to hostile them is if you want to take out baal yourself for a higher MF kill as these bots tend to wear more damage optimisation gear rather than MF gear.
When I leech baalruns, I usually enter town when all the minions are killed and hostile the bot, so he leaves and doesnt get any exp from baal. Since they usually are 97+ they hardly get any exp that way.
yes, bot hunting used to be fun and very profitable. The current spate of bots seem to help most people by allowing leechers and not picking up many drops. Though just as annoying, they usually run when hostiled.
