Avenger/Zealot

First of all, let me excuse myself if this question has already been awnsered before.

This is my first time playing 1.10, I'm not a noob but I just haven't had a computer for so long that I didn't play Diablo II.

I need help, so far, from what I've read, the paladin looks like the good-overall character but the problem is that I'm starting from scratch with no items whatsoever and no friends(they all deserted me :hanky: ).

I'm going to start a paladin and I need you guys advice: Starting from scratch, what build should I make: an Avenger paladin or a Zealot paladin.
I would need to be able to solo in hell with this guy.

Thx in advance.

I always thought elemental (frost zealots and tesladins) weren't very item dependant, leaving them as ideal builds while playing from scratch.

You could solo hell with either of those if you have enough physical damage, crushing blow, or a good merc.

I'm sure there are other builds, its just playing untwinked, I only have a lot of luck with sorceresses, and elemental zealots... but that's just me. I'm sure someone else could throw up some more input.

i think i would go hammerdin, becurse even with +5 skills u will kill fast
even in 3-4 player games, and if u run abit of nm mephi u will have ok
items after a days mf, but thats just me

Of the two builds you suggested, I would say the better option would be the Zealot. Whether you chose Fanatacism, Tesladin, Fire or Freeze is your own choice. Probably for starters I would go straight Fanatacism.

From what I've read and been told (haven't gotten around to an Avenger as yet) it is somewhat item dependant when compared to other Paladins - especially in the weapon choice...however I could be wrong here.

For the Zealot, the best weapon IMO is a Stormlash. There is just so much to say about this weapon. A very cheap alternative for this is the 'Crescent Moon' runeword - which has CTC Static Field on striking and the highest rune required is an Um!!!

In case you don't know, Holy Shield has been greatly improved in 1.1 and IMO has made Defiance mercs for Paladins redundant.

For builds you haven't mentioned:

Hammerdin

This is probably THE power character of 1.1. Get yourself a min 75% FCR and some +skills and you will own everything in the game. With a Hammerdin you will be able to run The Pit in Hell on players 8 very quickly, where you have the chance to get all items in the game (lvl 85 area).

Storm Ranger

There is a guide for this on the top of the Forum...and is quite operational even with some 'low end' bows as you are using the Holy Shock and Holy Freeze auras.

I hope this has helped, and welcome to 1.1!
