Attention Character Guide Authors

Elly is looking for new guides for the Strategy Compendium. I've reminded her about the following that were submitted last year:

Druid Summoner - by Lothric
Magic Find Immortal King Barb - by Amaril
Tiger Strike/Death Sentry Assassin - by Nightfish
Rune Finder's Guide - by Urlik_Skarsol
Guide to Altering Items In-Game - by Uzziah

I gave her this recent one:

Dual Elemental Druid - by Uzziah

But what else is out there waiting to be published? :spy:

Off the top of my head...
corax - revising Kronos' Guide to Charms (thank you!)
Asmodeous - Iron Man Barb (I know this one is really close :D )
corax - Hunter Druid (you asked me for input, but I never replied :( )

Any others?

Oh, and Durf, I recall you were considering writing some sort of SP FAQ for Mac users. :)

Hmm.

Nice avatar. Who or where did you get that from?

looks neat!

You must have been asleep when I posted this;

I don't know about how elly feels about some of my other guides that have been posted at other sites. Do these guides have to be an exclusive to diabloii.net?

I got out of writing guides because of the problem of differences between battle.net and single player. Battle.net readers expect me to include all the new rune words, not care about the FE bug and assume the annilus charm on every character. It was great in the pre v1.10 days where I could write my guides based on findings in single player and it was relevant to battle.net as well.
Now a days, we really have two different d2/LoD games which makes it hard to write guides to cover both.

Ok, you got me Asmo. :D Do you have the missing section on belts? I can splice it in for you.

I'll ask Elly about the exclusivity question.

As for my new avatar, Sssith sent it to me. Cool eh?

the charms should be fully revised by tomorrow night at the latest ( ~30 hours or so)

The hunter one has been stalled due to look of input *cough* :D but i'll get back to work on it too

Yeah, it is cool.

I have the full guide in *.doc form, i prefer to use word pad for my guides so that ms words isn't nagging me about all the words it doesn't recognize, but Ill have to use ms words on it anyway to change all the bold and colour switches anyway.

It is easily e-mail attached to you is you want to drop an addy in my pm box.

About my other guides, the reason I asked is because I wouldn't mind my avenger guide being hosted on a large, reputable, well loved, up to date, well modded.... (ok, ill stop sucking up now) site. I think that the avenger is one of the least played characters out there and a big guide could help getting more players out there to try the build out.

Does anybody know if there is a jewel equivalent of the charm guide floating around. If not I might knock one of them together aswell :D

I'm working on a new lightning-wielding Paladin theme character called a Thundergod. I have a Beta version of guide written, but it's more of a (very) long organization of my thoughts as I started playing the character. I don't have a lot of free time right now so it could be a while before I finish the project, but it is underway.

I don't think I have ever seen one but jewels are a whole new ball game, especially when you have to consider rares, and uniques into the equation.

Many people just leave jewels on the ground, I have been surprized at some of the blue jewels I have found over the past year, I have over 200 jewels now and about 30-40% have been decent ones.

@AE, I read back over the dual elemental druid guide and have some corrections to it see the thread. I still need to read over the altering items guide IIRC there are 3 corrections to formatting that need to be made to it nothing too major. I may just let it go as is.

I am working on a single tree guide (well just started) but It is a long long way from finishing, So it will have to wait until the next batch of guides gets looked at. It's going to be an overview of what I have discovered by playing my grail. somethings that people never even would think about have come up.

The MagiBarb guide will have to wait until I actually play the build. If anyone want the basic outline of the build to try it themselves I can provide it but it's very much in the experimental, design stage.

What? My Bone Mage guide didn't make the list! Where do I file a protest?

Just kidding. After looking at the other guides, I know why that was...

I agree with asmo about bnet people expecting to be dont to use all the godly runewords and anny charm, but if tyou say in the intro part of it that you played your character in SP, and the guide was aimed at people with self found items, then just say at the end "if you play bnet, your a n00b, and need to use duped runes for the runewords, anny charm and have lots of your godly friends with auras and stuff to help you rush."
EDIT: post 5000!

Just realised Wildjinn's Striking Tiger, Lashing Dragon hasn't been sent to the compendium yet.

Given that it is a very solid PvM build I think this is way overdue.
:) It's right here: http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=540

@ Uzziah - I see the changes you want in your druid thread. I'll edit your existing guide. If you PM me the formatting issues with the altering guide, I can make those adjustments as well.

@ Porius - yeah, some of the character guides listed in our SP forum thread would need some significant polishing before they could be submitted to Elly.

@ JihadJesus - be sure to post your guide in the forum for feedback. That's an important (even required) step.

@ farting bob - your 5000th post was appropriately spam  (please don't respond)

AE - the 1.0 version of the guide will be posted for critique right after I pat the first character and complete some futher gear tests. Then I'll revise and refine and retest until it's fully accurate and useful based on the input I get from the forum. At least, thats the plan.
