    ATMA and name changing

Just wondered how changing a character's name in ATMA is viewed by the forum. Still wondering about turning to the 'darkside' as it were, and I'm considering using a naming system to help me keep track of which characters/stashes are modded and which aren't.

Stashes are easy enough, they can be kept in separate directories in ATMA and have an 'm' put before their name as an added check. Also, if they are set up right from the start there should be no need for a stash to be converted from vanilla to modded. Hopefully.

Characters though, I was thinking of using names for my modded characters which have the letter 'm' somewhere, and avoid those names for vanilla characters. But what if a character starts out vanilla and later gets tainted? Is anyone likely to have any issues with that character being opened in ATMA and having an extra letter inserted into it's name?

    You filthy che4t0r! ATMA abuse!

Kidding aside, you don't even need ATMA, a simple click-F2-rename in windows explorer does exactly the same thing. Just make sure that you rename all files (.d2s,.map,.key) at once. See, not even ATMA abuse.

I did this myself actually. I made an elemental zealot named Tripotens (sucky name), and I spotted an act I rogue for hire named Isolde. I just had to apply for a name change. I renamed him Tristan.

I suspect you're wrong, it's all about the hex.

One must really be kidding if renaming chars is a no-no. If so, then I should be banned for tainted the entire trade pool with renamed chars.

You cannot simply rename a character in Windows. The name is internally tied to the hex values of some strings in the character file. Character files also have an internal timestamp.

Agreed. Much worse things are accepted so I don't see how this could be "wrong".

I just hope duelers don't start renaming chars, that could cause some nice chaos

I think 90% of my chars are renamed since I start them till I finish with them
