I've had D2 for a few yrs but am just now getting into it. I've read a lot on this forum and have some random questions.
General MFing:
I have some good items but I'm pretty poor overall. So would the best "first stop" for sets/uniques be hell meph, or hell pits, or something else? I have a blizzard sorc that can run hell meph quite fast, and a fishyzon that can run hell pits fairly fast (no teleport, and certain archer boss packs can kill me fast). When I say "quite fast" and "fairly fast" I mean extremely slow by ya'lls standards, but fast enough for me.
Runes & Runewords:
Over the course of questing with my fishyzon I found a Vex, a Gul, and a Lo. I also have quite a few of all runes Lem and lower, but nothing else. I can make a Death runeword now. Is that a good runeword? If so, for what sort of build? I was reading people talking about putting it in an eth 5os berzerker axe... is there any realistic chance of finding one of those without spending 800 hours running areas? If its super rare, is there a more common weapon that could make a good Death? Or should I not waste my vex and gul and save them up for something else? I know these questions are somewhat matters of taste... I'm just trying to determine how good Death runeword really is...? One alternative I was thinknig is waiting for a pul and make a Heart of the Oak, which is good for what builds?
Merc Suckage:
My mercs suck. My bliz sorc just runs hell meph with no merc and thats not a problem, but my fishyzon uses a defiance merc and he's starting to get more and more fragile (currently in A5 hell questing). He has 5% life leech, 75 resist all... how can I increase his survivability? In A4 hell I had to use frozen arrow more than my javelin skills because the merc would die if the enemies weren't frozen. He uses insight so no leech on the weapon. Is leech additive? Like if I give him 5% leech from armor and 5% leech from helm does that give him 10% leech? Does defense make a big difference for a merc?
Fishyzon questions:
I love this build... very fun so far. I've maxed LF, CS, FA, cold arrow, and I have a point in decoy and a point in pierce. I'm gonna follow nightfish's advice to not get a valkerie. So what to do with my few remaining points I'll end up with if I run WS K with it?
Bliz sorc question:
I'm stuck in A4 hell because my merc is officially too crappy to kill cold immunes. I was thinking of respecing into something that can beat hell more easily, then respecing again back to a bliz sorc to run meph... What would be the easiest (hopefully also fun) sorc build to win hell with?
