Assigning /players 8

    Assigning /players 8

    Hey guys I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I have a quick question. If I am, say, on durance of hate level 3 and am on /players 1, if I then assign /players 8, will meph now be on the /players 8 difficulty? or do i have to do the assigning on the previous level? thanks in advance.

    you have to type it in before meph spawns. Typically this is when he is about 2 screens away. I can tell when he does because my computer freezes momentarily.

    Make sure you type in players 8 (or whatever) before meph spawns though

    It's enough to run him on P3. The chance of no drop is already minimized on P3.

    Well, you don't even need players3 for Mephisto to be optimal, -- players2 is enough. Look at this tables, that I've calculated now. Note, that he tries to drop six times.

    Since the no-drop chance works by reducing the chance of no-drops and the sum of all the chances, will increased players slightly alter the distribution of magic/rare/set/unqiues from Meph? If so which way?

    Put another way, more players will mean more items, but will they be distributed over the qualities differently?

    (My crude working says no, but I might be using silly numbers.)

    No, the no-drop chance only affects the quantity of dropped items. It doesn't change the chance to find unique item. For example Pindelskin always drops two usable items and four potions. His chance to drop an unique item is always the same in different /playersX games.

    this might not be true. check this thread

    it should be 2/67, since the total number drops as well, but again, they might be off. check the above link.
