    Assassin skill question: Phoenix Strike

Am I correct in my understanding of how the Phoenix Strike charge-up skill works?:

    There are three possible charges:
    1-Meteor
    2-Chain Lightning
    3-Ice attack

Depending on when you do a normal or Finishing attack, after the first, second or third charge-up, you will get one of the above attacks added to your normal or finishing attack. Is this correct?

Or are Phoenix Strike attacks cumulative so after the third charge-up, you get all three attacks added to your normal or finishing attack?

If you are going to build a Phoenix Striker, max PS, CoT and FoF.

BoI does not add freeze duration to PS3, and the increase in cold damage to PS3 is also not very great.

BoI on its own is a viable skill when maxed (and synergised by PS) for damage and crowd control, but Phoenix Strikers do very well with just lightning and fire. Adding cold damage is somewhat of an overkill.

Is it true that Phoenix Strikers do best in full Nats gear? If so, I'd like to try the build, if it's not too complicated to play... I'm not much good at hot keys:cry:

You'd be hard pushed to find a setup that beats full Nat's for a PStriker.

But you have to be good at hot-keying... I've never played a more intensive hot-key character. I've used up all 16 hot-keys, and I still have a few left-over skills that I can't fit in.

I strongly disagree. Let's count what we need to hot-key for PS sin:

Let click: no hot-key, it should be your finish move
Must have HK: PS, BoS, Shadow (your choice of SM or SW), MB, DFlight
Optional HK: DS, CoS, Fade, TP, CS

The most you need would be 10 in total, and TP/CS do not need to be HKed anyway, so 8 should cover all.

I think PS sin is one of the least hot-key intensive build. If I want to have all the handy skills I need for a barb, I need 11 HK which I found much less easier to manage than any sin build.

Barb HK: BC, BO, Shout, Howl, Taunt, Battle cry, Leap/LA, your main attack, zerk, FI, TP, and optional WC/GW

    Necro HK: too many

You don't use FoF and CoT??

    Let me count.
All of these I use on a regular basis, and I consider 'handy'.
    1. PS
    2. CoT
    3. FoF
    4. MB
    5. CoS
    6. BF
    7. DC
    8. BoS
    9. Venom
    10. SM
    11. Fade

The rest I hot-key for the fun of it.
    12. BoI
    13. CS
    14. TS
    15. DT
    16. SW

    And the other pre-reqs which I can't hot-key.

    Left click for my charge-ups.

Right click for my finishing move, and utility skills.

Looks like my PStriker is quite different from your PStriker.

Oh, and Necro HK is easy.

Are we talking about some sort of standard combat girl here?

FoF and CoT??? Since PS has all the charge, FoF or CoT may only have other use than syn, if facing some specified group. But again, I dont' see any point why PS cannot do the job.

Since left click cannot be HKed, I don't see pracital reason to assign charge-up skill on it. I need to change skills all the time, so charge-up and utility all on right click make easier management.

I consider Venom a uselss skill, unless I'm build something specifed for it. BF is not really required for standard PS sin (but it is fun).

HK DC also seems strange for me, if I use DC, it will mean I use dual claw, and use DC for finish move.

And I'm really shocked you don't use DS

Left click can be hotkeyed, no trouble at all. You just can't have the same skill HK'd at both left and right click.

Possibly silly question, while we're at it... which keys do you people use for hotkeys?
    Personaly, I have Q-R, A-F, Z-C (an almost-square) and F1-F5.

I use mouse wheel mostly, so anything I see fit (and quick). However, you cannot change left click with mouse wheel. So no, you "cannot" HK left click.

    Edit:

I keep left hand on potions all the time.

And @ FB (not the other FB): so are you (having fixed opinion). On the other side, DS can be your most powerful killing skill, why not use it?

    I use...

    Left click
    F1 - CoT
    F2 - FoF
F3 - BoI (not in use, since I decided to max DS instead)
    F4 - PS

    Right click
    F5 - DC
    F6 - CoS
    F7 - MB
    F8 - DS

    Right click ("prebuff" skills)
    F9 - BoS
    F10 - Fade

I don't use any shadow. They're just so.... edit: I mostly use CoT and FoF to normal monsters. The first charge of PS is used for bosses. The Second charge of PS is about as good as CoT but quite annoying to handle.

I have to disagree that Nat's set is hard to beat for this build. It's good with all the defensive bonuses but IMO it's quite easy to get a unique/magic combo that equals or beats Nat's.

you made me want to try an assassin again, all i need is a 3os nat armour (i have about 11 now, 2's and 1's) so when i find a 3os one, ill give your style a go.
    edit: ignore that.

    Here's another assassin question:

Does Weapon Block work all the time (even when running, using trap skills, casting Shasdow Master, whatever) as long as your Assassin has a claw-type weapon equipped in each hand?

WB does not work when you are walking/running. It works when you are standing still.

Damn, not even walking like a regular shield? That's not great...
