    Hi, everyone!
    Which is the best vendor to look for an artisan's tower shield of deflecting?
    Tnx in advance!

    This pre-supposes you are talking about 1.10+.

    Artisan's requires alvl 33, deflecting alvl 11.
    Tower Shield's Qlvl = 22

    SINCE: ilvl<(99-qlvl/2) is likely true --> WHILE ( iLvl < **)

    THEREFORE: alvl=ilvl-qlvl/2

    33 = ilvl - 11

    ilvl = 44 required for alvl = 33

    Act 5 Normal caps at ilvl 45 in shops, meaning so long as you are level 39 you can shop it at Lazruk.

    The more important question is which is the optimum character level. There are two considerations:

    1. The minimum item level for such an item. You can find it out e.g. with this affix calculator. The optimum character level for shopping is less by 5.

    2. The minimum character level at which the base item can occur in which shop inventories (which is a matter of the item's base qlvl and limitations on shops, like maximum ilvl in normal mode or the bug/glitch/feature about nightmare/hell act 1 shops). You can try this shopping calculator.

    You have to take the higher of the two.

    If I got it right, in normal act V the clvl doesn't matter (as long as you reach lvl 39), because higher affixes cannot spawn, because of the 45 ilvl cap. So running from wp to Lazruk in normal is better than Charsi in Hell with cow tp?

    If you have a higher level character in the Hell setup, the affixes will be "diluted" so it will be harder to get what you want. Not sure if the shorter run distance makes it worthwhile anyway. Not sure about their respective tendency to offer Tower Shields either.

    I'm pretty sure Lazruk is the worst choice since he almost never offers shields.

    And btw can't tower shields also spawn Jeweler's (despite the fact that 3 socks are the maximum)? In that case shopping Hell/NM Charsi would be the best option. With a high level character that is.

    Yes, this is true. The odds do improve slightly:

    Shopping with a level 61 character (lowest possible for Jeweler's Tower Shield): chance to spawn Artisan's or Jeweler's if the item gets a prefix: (2+1)/158

    Getting Artisan's when shopping at clvl 39: if you get a prefix: 2/132

    So it's not as easy as I tought to shop this item. Lazruk is the only option in normal, but he rarely offers tower shields. In nm and hell you can't avoid the higher suffixes, because of the higher clvl...

    I have one gathering dust in HC 1.13 if you're interested... :p

    Also, if you're not afraid of time travel, it would be easiest to just shop something in 1.07 with prefix + deflecting, then hope for 3os from larzuk socket. Who doesn't want a free prefix (such as chromatic)? :eek:

    Bit of Off Topic: How is this better than a 3-socketed HeadHunter's Glory?

    Lower str reqs.

    Well yes, I forgot that :). The level req will be higher with jeweler's, but I guess that's not an issue.

    I need the atod (on my assassin) to hit the 86 block rate breakpoint - shield of deflecting with 3 shaels. Experimental build.
    I'm not interested in trading, because I only use the gear I've found with the current character.

    For future reference, that's referred to as "untwinked," so when you see people using that term, now you know what it means.

    That will make it tough to get the 1.07 version. That is missing the FBR anyways. Good thing shaels are cheap and you can hel it out and put in something better after you try the 86 breakpoint. It will be an awesome shield!
