Arsehole players, and dealing with them

I entered a normal game today with my level 49 necro, looking for someone to give my rare items to who could actually benefit from them. It happened to be a game with a few other necros who were just starting out.

One of them asked me if I had any godly necro equipment for him, and I told him I didn't, which was true. He responded by telling me to go eff myself and saying I was probably Jewish and racist (don't know what he was thinking).

He was too low of a level to smash, but before I said anything back, I had a crazy idea. I raised up my army and went over to them in the cold plains. When the guy saw me, he said something like "wtf u trying to show off?" I ignored him and proceeded to rush him through normal without a word. :) Raven, Inifuss, Tristram, got him started on Malus before he left. He was silent the whole time. I don't think he knew what to say. I doubt I made a difference, but it was pretty fun to mess with him. :D

Well, the easiest way to deal with people on bnet, is to simply press the squelch button on every person that's in the game you're in.

Would be nice to have a "Squelch all " button :)

I'll give away sorc weaps that I find, since some of the rares rival the uniques - and every time I end up in a shouting match with some idiot who wants me to drop all th weaps on the ground for him to take - even though there are 3 other people around. I console myself by tossing every insult I can at them, making sure to use a few words they don't understand. It may not have any net effect, but it works enough to complete the giveaway.

Tell me about it

U think u r doing the right thing by helping out Noobs and u just get abused for it.

The other day Andy dropped me a Tal Orb.

I did a few baal runs after and noticed that a sorc had the whole Tal set but not the orb (or perhaps the ammy since u cant c that LOL), so I gave it to her and I didnt even get a thanks....

Im almost at the point where I would rather sell it to Charsi.

It seems that this forum is the last bastion for decent honest players and that its chaos out of these walls!

Somehow, I knew you'd make a topic like this sooner or later. I can think of several ways to deal with annoying players, but they only work if you feel like making em yell at you more. (and try to kill you with their mf sorc)

You knew I'd make a topic like this? What do you mean? You don't know me. :) I'm not asking how to deal with them, just saying how I dealt with one.

Not to attempt an answer for Squelch, but I have been here myself; a post touting the greatness of BNet and the helpfullness of the players we encounter, followed up by one expressing profound disappointment in our fellow man based on the behavior of BNet players. Mine were about 4 weeks apart, at most.

Any new player with at least half a heart feels disappointed at the abuse flung from fellow Diablo II enthusiasts - and a few of us will use this forum as a place to vent this disappointment.

At least that's how I interpreted Squelch's comments.

UncleSporky, a tip of the hat to your solution to the would-be abuser. You are far more kind a person than I am. Don't let the 'bad folks' wear you down - and /w me again sometime, we'll go questing or MFing.

Heh, I didn't mean to brag or anything, I just found it to be a fun way to take care of rude n00bs. I doubt it would work the same way in higher difficulties, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I become cynical and jaded like everyone else.

I'm not "profoundly disappointed" with users on bnet, as I've been in a lot of message boards and chat rooms before. I know how people are. My earlier post was just a first impression kind of thing, and I still believe it's mostly true. There seem to be more good people than idiots, or if they aren't good people, then at least they'd rather just play than fight.

A little OT, but based on some of your posts, Nolo, it sounds like you're someone to keep in touch with. I don't cheat either, but I guess I'm not so adamant about others' decisions. Do you play a lot of paladins? :)

Of course! - my best one is called a Nolodin... :D

I'm not THAT crazed about the way other people play the game - but I do get a bit touchy when people break the posted rules - they're posted on every page, including this one - about sharing information about cheating. And then start stumping that cheaters are being treated unfairly. And then criticize me for being unkind to the cheaters of the world.

I'm not about going on witch hunts - nor am I about being abused because I stand for truth, righteousness, Paladinism,.....BLEEEECH!

I am gonna sorta speak to defend squelch because i think sporky misinterpretted his response. Squelch is probably referencing you post earlier about Bneters being nice and all, and we all know that in every bushel theres a bad apple. And as everyone knows one bad banana spoils the bunch. (yes i am comparing apples to bananas :))He knew youd eventually run into someone a little rude, and like a normal human being, youd want to vent. If you look through these forum, youll find oodles of posts about the same. No problem though, you dealt with it better than anyone else.

Now on your OT question: "Does nolo play paladins?" is like asking "Is the Pope Catholic?" I play a lot with Nolo, probably the main guy i play outside of soloing.

Wow. People are defending me? :worship: :surprise: :D But yeah, I knew you'd run into idiots sooner or later, I just didn't wanna spoil your fun. Hell, even I get like that sometimes. I'll come back, and have a pub duel game actually be good, and be like "Hmmm, maybe all the idiots went to go destroy WoW or something." Then the next game there's 5 people partied and townguarding while spamming in leet speak.

It's said how people are like in Diablo... example:

There's a high level druid doing tristruns for us, and all of a sudden this guy came and got impatient (after about 20 SECONDS) and started yelling, "OMG YOU NOOB DRUID, YOUR SO SLOW!!!!!111". He didn't have enigma since he was using aldur's set.

Who cares about those idiots, they're just ignored fools in the real world.

Get a grip.

Doing one quest has nothing to do with the 1 in a billion chance of a Lo rune dropping. It could have dropped from any fallen or such anywhere in hell.

If you really want to get eveerything that drops, play solo. Basic B-net rule.
