arrgh..

i dunno what to do.. here's the deal

my neighbor was selling her car, she's selling it because it's going way down hill and she needed a new one, she's somehow convinced my grandparents that it's a good car only because she replaced the brakes and a few other things, but she mentioned nothing about bad brakes when she told me she had to get it fixed

anyway.. my grandparents bought the car, after i asked them not to. i asked them not to for a few reasons. 1. i don't want them wasting their money on that car, 2. i don't want their help, i wanted to pay for my car myself, and 3. this is the lowest concern, but i just plain don't like the car, i wanted my first car to be my decision, and something i at least liked a little bit, not something shoved in my face that they expect me to drive..

i dunno what to do.. part of me is very angry at them for doing this after they saw how much i didn't want them to.. but part of me feels obligated to drive this stupid car because they wasted their money on it

my mom was pretty mad at me for being angry that they bought the car and are expecting me to drive it.. so i feel like my opinion about the situation is wrong somehow

*sigh* i dunno.. and for those of you curious, it's a ford stationwagon

......

Are you in a position to buy another car that you would enjoy yourself? If you aren't, use the car, don't disrespect them, and save save save. Doesn't seem like that bad of a deal to me. Besides, station wagons are more convenient(sp) than smaller cars for transportation, friends, ect.

A free car for you?

Say "Thank you" and drive the crap out of it, you most likely will never get another free car.

I have to agree with the group. As a rule, autos are terrible investments of your money and should only be considered as a necessary liability.

FYI: My first car was a off-white 1959 Chevy station wagon with clear plastic seat covers and no carpet... a hand-me-down all the way. It had to be one of the ugliest cars I ever drove. It had been sideswiped, had the long-fin body, and handled like a Sherman tank.

But hey, it was transportation. Don't knock it ... if it's a freebie.

It's a FREE car. Paint it purple. Tint the windows. Rip the back seats out, and put in a mattress. Go nuts.

It's a gift, make the best of it.

I can understand wanting to have a choice for your first car, but what fantastic gesture from your grand parents. I say drive it and enjoy it, I don't think the type of car matters, it's the memories that you have from the first car that matter. you will also find out station wagons are a blast, my first car was a wagon

Crappy cars have great personality. I'm of like opinion with the majority here. Make it your own, give it an ironic name, and drive the piss out of it.

Grandparents tend to love helping out their grandchildren, They will get more pleasure out of you using it than being resentful.

I understand your position on your vehicle. I'm not a motorhead myself, my car decisions are based soley on the color and what my gearhead brother says. style over function, and a brown station wagon, with the right amount of love, SCREAMS style

rock on zepplin

Good like with your new ride.

You got a free car, stop bitching, you should be happy.

Wanna know what I drive right now? A 1978 Subaru GF. This car is a piece of **** but it gets me around. Who cares what you drive it beats walking doesn't it?
