    Army or Marines

I graduate next year and want to join the service. I want to join either army or marines.

    A bit about me...

I am outgoing and big for my age, I love sports and computers. My GPA is C+, but I love computers and passed my A+ certification. (it was offered as a class at school.)

I think army would give me a better job...and marines would let me be big buff and cool.

    What are your opinions.

btw: I hear that they pay the same...this true?

I hear the Palistinians are looking for a few good men. Maybe you could apply to be human artillery. Pay sucks, and it isn't much as a career, but there's not alot of senseless training and pushups.

I personally would rather join the Army, just due to the fact that they offer more hands on computer based work. I'm also considering joining the army after I get my GED, I want to learn Military based programming and get employed to one of their technilogical branches.

First, yes, they pay the same.

Second, the Marine Corps is harder, but it is MUCH more rewarding.

Third, if you want to go into a computer-type field, you're probably better off going into the Army, unless you don't mind setting up networks in the field. NMCI is going to all but phase out Marine Corps computer geeks like myself, at least that's what I forsee.

Fourth, none of the branches care about your GPA as long as you have a high school diploma or equivalent and can pass the ASVAB, which is painfully easy.

You can PM me if you want more info about the Marines, keeping in mind that I will be slightly biased :D .

Yes, that's exactly what will happen, so don't take the ASVAB if you do not plan on joining any branch of the military.

Army gets quicker promotions, more job options, more posting options, and we don't have to fight dragons and lava beasts like certain services advertize...

Yeah, false advertising if I've ever seen it. I'm still waiting to fight my dragon or lava beast.

I lost all respect for the intelligence capibilities of the us military since they call me once a month with "Since you aren't in college, you should consider the army/navy/air force etc..."

Problem is....I am in college.

Army if you want to kill people and break things after being trucked to the battle
Marines if you want to kill people and break things after wading ashore
Navy if you want to kill people and break things by pushing buttons
Air Farce if you want to kill people and break things by pushing buttons while going fast
National Guard if you want to kill people and break things, but only on weekends
Coast Guard if you want to save lives

If you want to have lots of money for college, time to go, lots of posting options and lots of comfort, go Air Force. If you want to ground pound and have lots of money for college with lots of basing options, go Army. If you want to sail the waves in a carrier, battleship or sub with money for college and some time to do it, go Navy. If you want to protect our shores, rescue civilian sailors, dumb boaters and bust drug dealers, go Coast Guard.

If you want to be the best, go Marines.

See, when it comes down to it, the other service recruitment commercials try to "sell" you an enlistment. Enlistment bonus, money for college, career building, travel the world and so on. Watch a Marine recruitment commercial sometime. We don't offer you JACK. Bottom line for the Marines is, if you think you have the cajones, step on the little yellow footprints and gut it out for 12 weeks, otherwise, there's a cute blue, green or dungaree uniform with your name on it.

You get the privilage of being the first ashore to kill the enemy.
You get laid more. The ladies love the Marine uniform.
You don't have pink uniforms (heh, Army)
